If you're looking for a dog who wants to be your best friend, Roscoe is ready to apply for the job. ✍️

At 10 months old, this Anatolian Shepherd/Great Pyrenees mix is sweet, playful, and happiest when he's by your side. On walks, he likes to stay close and even checks back to make sure you're still with him.

Roscoe gets along with kids and other dogs, is neutered, vaccinated, and ready for a home of his own. He's been waiting since March, and we'd love to see him spending the summer with his new family.

🍂 Meet Acorn 🍂

Acorn may be small, but he's already got quite a story.

This orange and white fluff ball and his brothers, Cloud and Pebble, were found without their mama after nearly drowning in Henryetta. Thanks to a caring community member who stepped in to help, all three kittens were given a second chance.

Acorn is recovering beautifully and settling into kitten life. He's curious, playful, and discovering just how much fun a safe place, a full belly, and plenty of toys can be.

Acorn has already been vetted and will receive his vaccinations once he's fully healed and strong enough. He'll also be neutered when he's old enough, and all of that is included in his adoption fee.

We're starting to think Biscuit may have a superpower.

Invisibility. 😶‍🌫️

No joke. We've posted her. We've talked about her. We've told everyone what a wonderful dog she is.

And yet somehow, she's still waiting.

Biscuit is the kind of dog people say they're looking for:

🐾 Sweet
🐾 Friendly
🐾 Playful
🐾 Affectionate
🐾 Ready for a family of her own

She survived parvo as a puppy. She fought hard. She got better. And now she's healthy, happy, and wondering why everyone keeps passing her by.

Every day she waits is another day she doesn't get to curl up on someone's couch, go on walks with her family, or hear someone call her a good girl before bed. 😔

We know her people are out there somewhere.

Maybe they just haven't seen her yet.

Missing in Mounds

We received this message this morning. If you have seen her or have her, please let us know and we will direct you to her owner.

"My fiancé and I lost our husky on the 11th. I’m trying to get her picture out as much as I can Incase someone thought she was a stray. We live in mounds, she went missing from creager and 254rd. She is 3 years old, she has a broken left Caine. She is fixed, and back left leg will have scars from when a school bus clipped her. I have the medical records if she is found for it!"

One of the funny realities of animal rescue is that after a while, the dogs and cats can start to blur together.

Last week, our adoption coordinator Amanda visited the boarding facility to spend some time with Jake, a dog who was returned to us earlier this year and has been waiting for a second chance.

The next day, our board president Aimee texted Amanda with a simple question:

"Did you foster Tiger?"

Amanda had.

The only problem? Amanda had completely forgotten that Tiger and Jake were the same dog.

(Tiger was Jake's original name before he was adopted in 2024.)

After a series of increasingly confused text messages and several lightbulb moments, Amanda realized she had spent the afternoon reconnecting with a dog she had fostered before.

Out of all the dogs in all the rescues, all the boarding kennels, and all the years, she somehow ended up right back where she started.

And now Jake is spending some time in Amanda's home again.

Sometimes rescue is heartbreaking.

Sometimes rescue is exhausting.

And sometimes rescue is realizing you've accidentally fallen for the same dog twice.
