Yesterday was a big day for Mr. Cooper! 🐾💙
Cooper left our clinic missing a few things 😅 he was neutered yesterday but also needed some retained baby teeth extracted.
Weighing in at 4.4lbs, Cooper was a champ for his neuter and extractions 💪🏼

Your puppy’s baby teeth are supposed to fall out as their adult teeth come in. By around 6-7 months of age, most puppies should have their full set of adult teeth.
Sometimes, however, a baby tooth refuses to fall out- this is called a retained deciduous tooth.
This is very common in our smaller breed dogs. And the most common retained baby tooth is the upper canine tooth.
Why is this important? Retained deciduous teeth can cause:
🦷Abnormal position of adult teeth
🦷Uncomfortable or misaligned bite
🦷Accumulation of food and plaque in tight spaces
🦷Risk of gingivitis and periodontal disease
If your dog (puppy or adult) has a retrained baby tooth, early detection and extraction are important!
