We recently had some very special visitors from The Village Animal Welfare. Sonar, Reagan, Shayna, and Genghis got a chance to meet our veterinary team, explore the clinic, and get extra love and attention! During their visit, they were all tested for heartworms and given Proheart 12 ❤️

The pups also got to enjoy pup cups and cheese- and it was a big hit 😍

We’re grateful for the opportunity to support shelter pets and help them on their journey towards the happy, healthy lives that they deserve… in a forever home 🏠 🐶

A big thank you to the Village Animal Welfare and their volunteers for all you do for these deserving pups! If you are looking for a new family member, please go meet a shelter dog or cat at your local shelter 🐾💙

Lola’s here for a little pressure check! 🐶

Lola came in today to recheck her blood pressure after being diagnosed with hypertension at her wellness visit. And thankfully, she’s been doing great on her medication! ❤️

High blood pressure often has no noticeable symptoms, so the only way to know if your pup’s blood pressure is high is to have it checked. We recommend checking blood pressure every 6–12 months for dogs starting around age 7.

Lola doesn’t mind her checkups one bit. Especially when they come with extra attention and treats! 🥰🐾

Yesterday was a big day for Mr. Cooper! 🐾💙

Cooper left our clinic missing a few things 😅 he was neutered yesterday but also needed some retained baby teeth extracted.

Weighing in at 4.4lbs, Cooper was a champ for his neuter and extractions 💪🏼

Your puppy’s baby teeth are supposed to fall out as their adult teeth come in. By around 6-7 months of age, most puppies should have their full set of adult teeth.

Sometimes, however, a baby tooth refuses to fall out- this is called a retained deciduous tooth.

This is very common in our smaller breed dogs. And the most common retained baby tooth is the upper canine tooth.

Why is this important? Retained deciduous teeth can cause:
🦷Abnormal position of adult teeth
🦷Uncomfortable or misaligned bite
🦷Accumulation of food and plaque in tight spaces
🦷Risk of gingivitis and periodontal disease

If your dog (puppy or adult) has a retrained baby tooth, early detection and extraction are important!

Two teeth where there should be one? Don’t wait - have it checked! 🐾💙
