Oklahoma City Animal Welfare promotes and protects the health, safety, and welfare of pets and people in OKC. Each year, we serve more than 24,000 animals and provide sheltering services for Del City and Tinker Air Force Base. Our team handles adoptions, lost and found pets, and responds to reports of animal cruelty, injured animals, loose dogs, and nuisance or dangerous animals, enforcing OKC’s a

"Jasper! It’s been 2 weeks since we adopted him, and he’s settling in perfectly with his big brothers, Maverick and Tobi; he loves toys, exploring outside, and wrestling with Tobi every chance he gets.

Jasper already knows his name, “no,” and “sit,” and he’s proving to be a quick learner as we work on kennel and potty training. He also walks pretty good on a leash as we train to go on walks. He’s also officially claimed the couch and become a regular member of the crew.

We love him so much already and are so thankful we saw him and chose to make him part of our family."

Join us on Saturday, June 13th from 10AM–2PM for a FREE Microchip Event hosted by Save Our Animals Rescue Society! Microchips greatly increase the chances of lost pets making it back home where they belong — and registration is included!

"The moment we saw Jakoby at the shelter, we just knew.

He was so happy, so friendly, and full of life — the kind of dog that instantly makes you smile. The only problem was that he wasn’t available yet. He was still on a stray hold, and we had to wait.

But we couldn’t stop thinking about him.

We called the shelter every single day, hoping to hear that he was finally ready. The second we got the news, we rushed up there as fast as we could. We weren’t going to miss our chance.

In January 2026, Jakoby officially became part of our family.

From the moment we brought Jakoby home, he fit right in like he had always been part of our lives. His goofy, energetic personality shines through in everything he does — especially his zoomies that fill the house with laughter. He loves his granola bones, car rides, and going on new adventures, always ready for whatever comes next.

Jakoby is not only fun and full of life, but he’s also incredibly protective, always making us feel safe and cared for. More than anything, he’s given us something truly special — a companion and a kind of love that only a dog can give.

Adopting Jakoby has brought so much happiness into our lives. We went to the shelter hoping to find a dog… but we found so much more."

We're heading to PetSmart on I-240 (1417 W I-240 ) today from 11 AM–4 PM with some amazing adoptable dogs looking for their forever homes! (If the weather takes a turn for the worse, we may pack up a little early, so come see us sooner rather than later!)

Kudos to you, 405 community️

Thanks to your continuous donations 📦, hundreds of pets and people are receiving much needed pet food during times of struggle. We will continue to package and deliver supplies 🐾 to those who need it most.

If you have food storage bags ️ you are no longer using or extra towels at home, we would love for you to share them with our pets ❤️. Every donation is put to good use.

You can also donate a can of puppy formula 🍼🐶 or set up a recurring donation of soft cat treats delivered from your favorite online store 🛒.

Connect with friends 🗣️ and consider coming together to host a supply drive. Every person in the 405 community can do something to support the pets in our community️, we just need to try 💪.

😻Did you know today is ?

Well, it is! And when we walked into the cattery, these two adorable kittens were already celebrating by snuggling up together.

Kittens this young are too small to be adopted directly from the shelter and need loving foster homes while they grow big enough for adoption. This time of year, we're especially in need of kitten fosters to help us care for the many little ones arriving each day.

We are looking for a Professional Technician. This position plays a key role in our efforts to save the lives of pets in our community ❤️. Your work will have a direct impact on the number of pets that successfully find homes outside the shelter 🏠.
