🚑🐾 Medical Monday: A Reminder to Keep Pets Safe This Summer 🐾🚑

This sweet pup recently came to us after getting out of the yard during a storm and being struck by a car. Sadly, the accident resulted in a broken leg that required surgical repair. Thankfully, with prompt medical care, this patient is on the road to recovery. ❤️

As storm season and summer festivities ramp up, we want to remind everyone that loud noises, fireworks, thunder, guests coming and going, and damaged fencing can all increase the risk of pets escaping.

Here are a few ways to help keep your pets safe:
✔️ Check fences and gates regularly for damage or weak spots
✔️ Make sure collars and ID tags are up to date
✔️ Microchip your pets and keep registration information current
✔️ Keep pets indoors during storms and fireworks
✔️ Use leashes even in familiar areas if distractions are present
✔️ Create a calm, secure area inside your home during stressful weather

A frightened pet can bolt in seconds, and accidents can happen just as quickly.

We are grateful this patient is healing well, and we hope sharing this story helps prevent another family from experiencing the same scare. 🐶💙

As we gather with family and friends this Memorial Day, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. ❤️🤍💙

While enjoying the long weekend, please remember that holidays can be stressful — and sometimes dangerous — for our pets.

Here are a few quick Memorial Day safety reminders:
☀️ Never leave pets in hot vehicles
🌭 Keep table scraps, bones, alcohol, and desserts out of reach
🎆 Loud gatherings and fireworks can cause anxiety and escapes
🚪 Be mindful of open gates and doors with guests coming and going
💧 Make sure pets have plenty of fresh water and shade outdoors
