COVID has certainly caused numerous customer service issues for the whole world. We are also experiencing our share of those challenges which includes being able to keep a full staff. Due to those staffing issues we have made the difficult but necessary decision to discontinue our medical services on Saturday morning. This will allow us to shift the current staff to support medical services Monday - Friday from 7 am - 6 pm. We apologize for this inconvenience but will do everything we can to find a scheduling solution for a weekday appointment or work in.

Effective September 1, 2021, we will be open Saturday and Sunday from 8 am - 9 am and 5 pm - 6 pm for our clients to drop off and pick up boarding patients, purchase food or buy completed medication refills. As always, we will not be answering the phone and responding to emails on our Saturday and Sunday hours.

We absolutely love all of our great clients and appreciate your patronage. We thank you in advance for helping us to continue to physically and emotionally support our amazing staff.

Katie Kughn, DVM

We are looking for some great high school or college students that would like to have about 12-15 hours of work per week. They would work 2-3 days after classes during the week and 1 day on the weekends. It’s enough hours to put some money in the bank but doesn’t interfere with school work and home life. If you know of any outstanding, responsible and reliable 16 or older students, please encourage them to come and fill out an application with us. We appreciate the referrals.

OUR LOBBY IS OPEN. 😷 masks are encouraged and appreciated inside our building. Thank you to all of our kind and patient clients that helped us keep our employees as safe as possible. We are thankful the safety measures we took allowed us to avoid being shut down and stay COVID free until we could get all our employees vaccinated!! We still have a few safety measures in place that allow us to continue minimizing exposure since no vaccine is 100% effective. We are keeping the same guidelines to request prescription refills. Any refill called in BEFORE 12 pm will be ready for pick after 3 pm the same day. Any calls received AFTER 12 pm will be ready for pick up the next day.

We will see you INSIDE.......

We had a very sad case yesterday that involves a pet that may now have a life threatening disease from receiving a weeks worth of jerky treats. We hear a lot of stories about pets having these same issues and more common than not it involves some type of jerky treat, especially when they are from smaller, less recognizable brand names which typically are shipped in from other countries or are co-packed. The FDA has a listing on their website of recalled pet food and treat products. We wanted to let you know about this concerning trend and to inform you we do not recommend any type or brand of jerky treats for our patients.

Just a reminder from one of our owners to watch out for pets getting stuck outside with doggie doors freezing shut. Great heads up message. Stay safe everyone.

2020 has been a year of challenges but we are so incredibly proud of this team because they have risen to every one of them!! It is a well known fact that change is very difficult to deal with, but your veterinary team has gone thru several major adjustments to their ways of working this year behind the scene. At the beginning of the pandemic in March, we started learning our new veterinary software program so we could elevate our level of customer service. This required eliminating our paper process and going digital. The same month we went live with our new digital system, we made the decision to lock our lobby in an effort to protect our staff and prevent the business from being shut down. This changed every interaction process we had in place, changing our workload to 3 interactions instead of 1 per client event. Another way to put it is that the staff had to work 3 times harder to accomplish the same task. You may have heard of the pandemic pet movement going on worldwide. We have averaged 120 new patients consistently every month since March, which basically adds up to an extra month of work per year. During this year of low patience and high anxiety (professionally and personally) this team has shown up every day to take care of each other, to take care of our clients and especially to take care of our patients. Dr. Mason and Tami just wanted to thank our staff and tell them how much we appreciate them giving every ounce of energy they had every day. It is because of them that this small family business not only survived a pandemic but thrived during 2020. We truly love our PNAH family!!

WELCOME DR. KATIE KUGHN,

We are extremely excited and feel very blessed Dr. Katie Kughn has decided to join our Putnam North Animal Hospital (PNAH) team. We have been recruiting her for awhile because we know her to be a very sweet, smart and fun soul.

Dr. Kughn was born and raised in Oklahoma City. She had the dream to become a veterinarian from a very early age. She began working for a veterinary clinic in northwest Oklahoma City when she was 15 years old.

Dr. Kughn attended Oklahoma State University (Go Pokes!) where she obtained a Bachelors of Science in Animal Science in 2010, and a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2014. After graduation, Dr. Kughn began working as an associate at the same veterinary clinic where she worked during high school and college. She is a very loyal lady! She is a member of the Oklahoma Veterinary Medical Association as well as the American Veterinary Medical Association.

In her free time, Katie likes to spend time with friends and family. She loves reading, crafting, kayaking and spending lazy days at home with her 3 dogs - Maybe, Waylon and Olive.

Welcome Dr. Kughn!! We are ready to rumble!!
