Many of you know and love our sweet girl, Bernie. Recently, we noticed that she was having difficulty eating, and her beak also seemed to be bothering her. A sample from a mass on her beak was sent off for testing, and unfortunately, our girl has been diagnosed with melanoma.

What is melanoma? Melanoma is a rare, serious type of cancer that forms in pigment-producing cells and can occasionally affect African Greys.

At this time, we’re focusing on palliative care and keeping her as comfortable, happy, and spoiled as possible. ❤️

She’s been such a special part of our clinic, and we know many of you have come to love her too. We’ll be giving her all the extra love and attention she deserves. The next time you stop by, make sure to give her some love!
