Swain Cattery PSA🐾
I wanted to share something helpful that I’ve personally had really great results with in our home 😊

If your cat (or even a dog) ever has an accident outside the litter box, I’ve found that using Angry Orange works extremely well for fully removing the smell and helping prevent repeat accidents in that same spot.

That said, I don’t recommend using it to clean the litter box itself. Because it’s so effective at breaking down odor and discouraging marking, it can actually make a space less appealing for them to return to—and we always want the litter box to feel like a safe, familiar place for them.

So this is best used for:
• Accidents outside the litter box
• Areas where marking has happened
• Spots you want to discourage repeat behavior

For regular litter box cleaning, it’s better to stick with something mild and neutral.

Just wanted to pass that along in case it’s ever helpful šŸ’›

It is an incredibly somber and difficult reality to face, but preparing for what happens to our loyal companions after we pass is crucial. Our deeply devoted Bengal cats bond with us so intensely that a sudden, unexplained disappearance can leave them confused and heartbroken by the door. Allowing a beloved feline to see and smell their owner resting peacefully in bed gives them the necessary context to understand the loss. Animals possess a deep, innate comprehension of the natural cycle of life, and experiencing that final goodbye helps prevent feelings of abandonment. Providing them with this heartbreaking but essential moment of closure ensures they can properly process their grief rather than waiting forever. It is the absolute highest form of selfless love to protect their delicate hearts even as our own journey comes to an end. šŸ–¤šŸ„€šŸ¾

I feed the stray cats in ļæ¼my neighborhood, do you?

Every stray cat deserves a little warmth, a safe place to rest, and a scrap of food to fill their belly. They wander streets and alleys, surviving on hope and the kindness of strangers. A gentle hand, a bowl of food, or a quiet moment of care can make all the difference in their lives. It’s heartbreaking to see them struggle, but even the smallest act of kindness brings comfort and trust. These cats don’t ask for much—they only want to feel safe and loved. Showing them compassion is not just a gift to them, but a reminder of the goodness in our own hearts. šŸ¾ā¤ļø

True stories!

I don’t need an alarm clock—I have a Bengal cat. Bright and early, he’s already bouncing around, eyes wide, demanding breakfast like a tiny furry boss. His energy is impossible to ignore, and before I know it, the day has begun. He paces, meows, and occasionally gives me the most persuasive stare imaginable. Somehow, I can’t stay mad because his antics are too entertaining. Life with a Bengal is always full of surprises… especially before coffee. Who needs sleep when you have a furry personal alarm?

Does Your Vet Recommend Kibble for Your Cat? Let’s Talk About It! 🐾

Hey everyone! I wanted to share a little food for thought—literally—about what we feed our cats. As obligate carnivores, cats really thrive on diets that are high in protein, low in carbs, and rich in moisture. Ideally, we’re looking at about 40% protein, under 2% carbs, and around 70% moisture in their food.

If your vet is suggesting kibble as the best option, here are some questions you can ask to open up a friendly dialogue:
1. Ask About a Nutritionist on Staff: ā€œFirst, I’d love to know if there’s a nutritionist in the clinic who could help answer some dietary questions. I know veterinarians have a broad range, but a nutritionist might dive deeper into these specifics.ā€
(Just a side note: veterinarians, like doctors for humans, often aren’t specialized in nutrition unless they have additional training.)

2. Hydration and Urinary Health: ā€œCould you help me understand how a dry kibble diet supports hydration compared to wet or raw diets?ā€

3. Carbohydrate Content: ā€œSince cats need very few carbs, how does a higher-carb kibble align with their nutritional needs?ā€

4. Dietary Rotation and Variety: ā€œWe know that even humans benefit from a varied diet. Could we talk about the idea of rotating high-moisture, high-protein foods to prevent nutritional gaps, rather than feeding the same kibble every day?ā€

5. Long-Term Health Outcomes: ā€œAre there any long-term studies that show kibble is the best option for overall health, especially for preventing kidney or urinary issues?ā€

It’s all about having a vet who’s open to these conversations and willing to explore the best options for your cat’s nutrition. Let’s make sure our feline friends get the best diet possible, and feel free to share your own experiences and thoughts below!
