Meet Boo Boo Bear. 🐻💙

Boo Boo Bear is a 5 year old, 80lb American Bulldog and roughly 79 of those pounds are pure love. 😂

This big, squishy boy came to us from the euthanasia list at Oklahoma City Animal Welfare. He also arrived with a giant mass on his back that needed to be removed. Thankfully, surgery went well and he is healing beautifully! ❤️‍🩹

Despite everything he has been through, Boo Boo Bear loves absolutely everyone he meets. Adults? Friends. Kids? Friends. Other dogs? Also friends. He is genuinely one of the sweetest boys around.

Boo Boo Bear may look big and tough but underneath that bulldog exterior is an oversized teddy bear who just wants affection, companionship, and a family of his own. 🧸

He survived the euthanasia list. He made it through surgery. Now he’s ready for the best part of his story: becoming somebody’s spoiled baby.

Boo Boo Bear is neutered, current on vaccines and preventions, microchipped, and heartworm negative.

Stella is a 1 year old, 10 pound Shih Tzu mix who has already survived more than any little dog should ever have to.

Stella came from a hard past and was eventually left on the streets to fend for herself. That’s where her story with us began. 🥺

But somehow, this tiny girl came through it all with the biggest heart. ❤️

Stella is genuinely one of the sweetest dogs you’ll ever meet. She LOVES people. She LOVES other dogs. And if there’s a lap available? Consider it hers. 😂

She doesn’t need anything fancy. She just wants to feel safe, loved, and surrounded by friends.

After everything Stella has been through, she deserves a forever home where she’ll never have to wonder where her next meal—or her next cuddle—is coming from. 🥹💗

Peisley Peistry is a 45 pound, 3 year old Shar Pei mix whose life could have ended in the blink of an eye. She came to us after finding herself in danger of being shot by someone in the country. Somehow, Peisley made it through… and now she’s ready to discover what life is supposed to look like. 🥹

Like a true Shar Pei, Peisley enjoys her independence, exploring, and having a little “me time.” She’s sweet, but she isn’t the type to immediately run up and introduce herself to every stranger she meets. She takes her time. She watches. She decides when you’ve earned her trust. ❤️

And once she does? That’s when the magic happens.

Peisley thrives with a consistent routine and a predictable environment. Give her time to settle in, show her that you’re safe, and she blossoms into the sweet girl we know she can be.

And GOOD NEWS: Peisley LOVES other dogs! 🐶💕 She would absolutely enjoy having canine friends in her forever home.

11 LBS OF ABSOLUTE CHAOS & CHARM

Pomegranate is a a 3-year-old, 11-lb brown Pomeranian who firmly believes that being tiny is a personality trait. 😂

He’s fluffy. He’s adorable. He LOVES dogs. He LOVES kids. And he may even be a cat guy… although we haven’t gotten the official feline approval yet. 🐶❤️🐱

Now, let’s talk about the important part: Pomegranate can bite sometimes. He’s not being marketed as a perfect little stuffed animal, because that wouldn’t be fair to him—or to you. He needs someone who understands that small dogs can have big feelings and who is willing to respect his boundaries and work with him.

But underneath that spicy little exterior is a sweet, social 11-pound Pom who deserves a chance.

He’s not looking for perfect.

He’s looking for patient.

He’s looking for understanding.

He’s looking for someone who sees a dog who needs a little help—not a dog who needs to be discarded. ❤️

Okay, we know some of you really did not love this boy’s name 😂 — and yes, Pei Diddy is simply a silly play on P. Diddy. No deeper meaning, no endorsement of anyone - just a goofy rescue dog name for a goofy rescue dog. 😅

But enough about his name… LOOK AT HOW HAPPY THIS BOY IS!! 🥹

Pei Diddy had a BIG day yesterday. He underwent lower eyelid entropion surgery, nare surgery to open up his nostrils, AND his neuter — because apparently he decided to collect surgeries like Pokémon. 😂

He is recovering beautifully and today he got the BEST possible medicine: a foster home! 🏡❤️

And let us tell you… this boy is SO. HAPPY. He is settling in, soaking up the love, and showing us more and more of the incredibly sweet personality that has been hiding underneath everything his little body has been dealing with.

He’s still recovering from ear infections, a skin infection, and an upper respiratory infection, so he has a little ways to go. In about two weeks, we’ll likely tackle his next big step — brow surgery to help relieve the weight of his upper eyelids on his face.

It’s been a lot.

But Pei Diddy is handling it all like a champ. 🥹💙

Every day, he’s getting more comfortable. Every day, he’s opening up a little more. And every day, we get a glimpse of the happy, sweet boy we knew was in there all along.

Welcome to the good life, Pei Diddy. 🐾

And yes… you can keep hating the name. 😂

❤️❤️Update on the mom and babies we took a week ago! ❤️❤️

This sweet mom and babies were on the euthanasia list at Oklahoma City Animal Welfare last week. We were able to get them just in time. Unfortunately, mom (now named Lulu) was very stressed and vet staff where they were staying noticed that Lulu wasn’t taking care of her babies. With limited resources, we scrambled to find places for the babies. Lucky for us, two rescue partners stepped up for the puppies. One group specializes in neonates and the other specializes in cleft lip pups. Cayenne, the one cleft lip pup, is doing amazing. The other pups are doing well and cute hungry chubby babies.

Lulu was hard to handle at the shelter but has been decompressing with us. She is becoming friendlier and friendlier. Once vet staff was able to handle her, they drew blood and found out she is heartworm and Ehrlichia positive. We do always treat our dogs with the fast kill heartworm method as recommended by the American Heartworm Society. This can be costly.

While we wish that we could help every animal in need, we ask that you bear in mind our expenses and our lack of foster homes. If anyone is able to offer to donate or foster, we do have options listed on our website: saveoklahomapets.org

This sweet boy is Augustus (Auggie for short). He came to our rescue in January of this year. He has been in a hospice foster since then. Unfortunately, Auggie has heart disease and is coughing daily. His vet has recommended an echocardiogram (ultrasound of his heart) to determine next steps for Auggie.

❤️ Pomegranate is finally breathing a sigh of relief. ❤️

Pomegranate is officially out of the shelter and safe with us.

When he first arrived at the shelter, this little guy was terrified. Fear made him react the only way he knew how—lunging and trying to keep people away. But fear and aggression are not the same thing, and now that he’s in a quiet foster home, we’re already seeing him begin to decompress.

After everything he’s been through, he’s finally getting the chance to rest, feel safe, and learn that the world isn’t such a scary place.

A huge thank you to everyone who liked, shared, commented, and pledged toward his care AND especially thank you to his foster mom. Because of your support, Pomegranate has the opportunity to start over.

Please keep cheering him on as he continues to settle in and discover what it means to be loved. We can’t wait to watch this sweet little Pomeranian blossom. ❤️

💛 Honey Bun is finally safe. 💛

For months, this frightened Shar Pei survived on the streets of Oklahoma City, earning the hearts of the incredible crew at Oklahoma City Fire Department Fire Station 21. They lovingly nicknamed her “Honey Bun,” fed her cheeseburgers, pizza, and plenty of snacks, and patiently watched as she slowly began to trust them.

We cannot thank the firefighters and employees enough for the kindness they showed this sweet girl. ❤️

When one firefighter’s wife reached out to Save Oklahoma Pets Society asking if we could help, we knew we had to act. Unfortunately, we didn’t have the resources or man power until recently but with the heat, rescue was becoming crucial. Honey Bun had a severely injured leg, painful entropion affecting her eyes, and narrowed nostrils that made breathing in the 100-degree heat increasingly difficult.

So the “Honey Bun Rescue Crew” was born.

Thanks to Claudia - The Trapper, the dedicated employees of Fire Station 21, Save Oklahoma Pets Society, K9 Rescue and Rehab, and countless others including our amazing veterinary team, a plan was quickly put into place.

Just 10 minutes after the trap was set, Honey Bun was safely captured.

This rescue also reminds us how important it is to trust the trapping process. Humane traps rely on food to safely lure fearful dogs inside. While we understand that many people wanted to help by feeding Honey Bun, once a trapping plan is in place, additional feeding can unintentionally delay rescue. We always welcome questions about humane trapping and our inbox is open if you’d like to learn more about how these lifesaving efforts work.

Now that Honey Bun is receiving veterinary care, we’ve learned just how much she’s endured. X-rays revealed devastating injuries—her femur, tibia, and fibula are all broken on the same leg. Because the injuries are old and have already begun healing improperly, amputation is unfortunately her best option. She will also need surgery to correct her entropion and widen her narrowed nostrils.

In the coming weeks, Honey Bun will be transferred from Oklahoma to K9 Rescue & Rehab to continue her recovery. Once there, she will be available for adoption in the New York area.

This sweet girl survived months of fear, pain, and unimaginable hardship. Thanks to an incredible team that refused to give up, she never has to survive another day alone.

Sometimes the impossible just takes the right people working together.
