Meet Minka 🩶

Minka is officially new to rescue, and we’re so excited to get this girl started on the next chapter of her life ❤️ If you remember Junie B, who found her forever home through us, Minka is actually her daughter! 🥹 And just like her mama, Minka deserves the chance to know what a real forever home feels like.

Minka spent the first year of her life outside in a pen. That’s all she’s ever known. Now we want to change that and show her that life can be so much more. She deserves a soft bed, a family, a safe place to sleep, and someone who will love her for the rest of her life. Tomorrow she has the opportunity to go in for her spay, vaccines, heartworm test, and microchip, which will cost us around $115.

Look at that face! How is this happy, goofy, tail-wagging girl still available?

Fayne is the kind of dog who makes you smile just by being around her. She loves cuddles, playtime, and keeping her dog friends on their toes. She has plenty of puppy energy and would love an active home with dogs who enjoy a good game of chase. She’s also kennel and potty trained and great with children.

She’s spayed, microchipped, vaccinated and on preventatives — all she’s missing is her people. ❤️

And please don’t let distance stop you! If you’re willing to travel, we accept out-of-state applications. Fayne deserves a chance to find her furever family, wherever they may be.

We just wanted to take a moment to say THANK YOU to everyone who donated, shared, and cheered Davidson on. Because of YOU, we met our goal for today’s ultrasound! 🥹🐾

Davidson has been through so much already. Between his senior bloodwork, allergy testing, treatment for his UTI, testing of his lumps, and now his ultrasound, his medical bills have added up quickly. At this point, we are only about $300 short of being able to cover all of Davidson’s medical expenses to date❤️

And then comes the big unknown…

Depending on what his ultrasound shows, Davidson may need surgery to remove his external masses. That surgery is estimated to be upwards of $900. We’re praying that the cancer has not spread internally and that surgery will be a safe and viable option for him 🙏 We are incredibly grateful for everyone who has helped us get Davidson this far. We truly could not do this without our village.

If you’d like to help us get that final $300 covered and prepare for whatever comes next for Davidson, we would be so grateful. And as always, sharing his story costs nothing and helps tremendously. Thank you for helping us show this senior boy that he is worth fighting for. 🐾💙

It is with incredibly heavy hearts that we share that sweet Marley crossed the rainbow bridge this weekend 💔🌈 Marley fought so hard for so long. We pursued testing, veterinary care, treatments, and every option we could to give him a chance. His most recent diagnosis was suspected FIP, and although his medication arrived Saturday, unfortunately Marley had declined to the point that he was suffering. As much as we never wanted to give up on him, we knew that continuing to make him fight when his body was telling us it was time would not be fair. We made the heartbreaking decision to let him go peacefully Saturday ❤️‍🩹

We want to sincerely thank everyone who donated toward Marley’s medical care. Every dollar that was given helped us get him veterinary attention and allowed us to continue fighting alongside him. While we were ultimately left with a significant veterinary bill, we are choosing to focus on what those donations allowed us to do rather than the amount that remains. You helped us give Marley a chance. You helped us fight for him. And most importantly, you helped us make sure he was loved and cared for through the end 💓 Please keep his foster in your thoughts as she deals with the loss of this sweet boy ❤️‍🩹

Alexis has been patiently waiting for her forever home, and we really don’t understand how this girl is still waiting. ❤️

She absolutely loves having cat friends and would be happy to have feline siblings in her forever home. She may not be the super cuddly type, but she definitely enjoys pets—and she’s very nosey. If something is happening, you can bet Alexis needs to know about it. 😂

She’s also quite hilarious and has a personality that will keep you entertained. She may take a little time to show you all her quirks, but once you get to know her, you’ll see just how special she is.

🐾 Introducing the newest face at We’re OK🐾

This sweet beautiful girl is only about 8 months old, and she’s already had more change & uncertainty in her short life than any dog ever should.

From what we were told, she spent the first 7 months of her life in one home before being rehomed. She had only been with her most recent family for about a month when they were evicted and leaving the state. We were told the animals in the home would just be left behind.

So… here she is. ❤️‍🩹

In another new place.
With another new person.
In another completely different life.

And we look at her, we can see some of that uncertainty in her.

This girl is incredibly sweet, gentle and loving, but she’s also a bit meek and spooks easily.
She wants affection. She wants to connect. She just doesn’t seem completely sure yet that she can settle in and trust that everything around her isn’t about to change again.

And who could blame her?

At only 8 months old, consistency hasn’t exactly been something she’s gotten to experience.

But that changes now!

She’s safe in a foster home where there’s no rush and no expectations. Right now, we're focused on just letting her decompress, gain some much-needed weight, feel loved, and learn what it feels like to have some stability.

We have a feeling that once she realizes she’s safe and life stops changing underneath her feet, that confidence is going to start showing up all on its own. 🥹

For now, she gets to just be a puppy.

Davidson came into our rescue as a senior boy, and we promised him that his age would never mean he was forgotten or overlooked. He deserves the same chance at a happy, comfortable life as every other animal we take in❤️🐾

Unfortunately, Davidson’s medical journey has already been much more complicated than we hoped. His recent allergy testing and senior bloodwork cost approximately $615, and those tests revealed not only the many allergens he has, but he also has a UTI. During that same visit, we had several of his lumps aspirated and the results came back as mast cell cancer 💔😭

We received an estimate of nearly $900 to remove the external masses, but before we can even get to surgery, Davidson has another very important appointment we need to get him to on Wednesday.

He will be seen to recheck his UTI and will have an ultrasound to look for any internal masses. Our biggest hope right now is that the cancer has not metastasized and that we can move forward with removing the external masses and giving Davidson more comfortable, happy days.

Wednesday’s visit is expected to cost approximately $400. We are already $600+ into Davidson’s care, and that doesn’t include the additional testing Wednesday or the potential $900 surgery that may likely follow.

💗 An Update on Our Sweet Kyra 💗

When we first asked for help raising money for Kyra’s echocardiogram, we weren’t sure what answers we were going to get. We just knew this sweet girl deserved the chance to find out what was happening with her heart.

Thanks to all of you who donated, shared her story, prayed for her, and cheered her on, we were able to get Kyra her echo. We will forever be grateful that you helped make that possible. ❤️

And now, we have an update:
Kyra has been diagnosed with a grade 5 heart murmur. The vet does believe this murmur has progressed since she was first diagnosed. The echo showed that she has a hole in her heart that is allowing blood to flow over to the right side, causing that side of her heart to become enlarged.

Unfortunately, there is no medication or surgery that can reverse what is happening with Kyra’s heart. Her veterinarian cannot tell us how much time we have with her. He has talked with us about the signs we need to watch for when her condition progresses, because the most important thing to us is making sure that when her time comes, Kyra is never allowed to suffer or be in pain.
That part is incredibly hard to hear. 💔

But for now, Kyra is here. She is loved. She is safe. And she is surrounded by people who adore her.
Kyra will remain with We’re OK Foundation, and her amazing foster mom would love nothing more than to keep her with her for as long as Kyra is here on this earth and to spoil her, love her, give her everything she needs, and make every single day count. 🩷

We know the road ahead may be heartbreaking, but we are choosing to focus on the time we DO have, rather than the time we might not.

Thank you for giving Kyra this chance and thank you for helping us get the answers we needed.

Please keep our sweet Kyra in your thoughts. We’ll continue to love her fiercely and make sure she knows just how incredibly special she is. 🐾💗
