Summer enrichment does not have to be complicated. A frozen Kong can help keep your dog cool, busy, and happy on hot days.

Enjoy those cooler days for car rides while they last.

If your dog loves tagging along and you can keep them with you the whole time, this milder weather can be a nice window for a safe little ride. But as Oklahoma warms up, quick errands can become risky fast.

Even in the upper 70s and low 80s, a parked car can get dangerously hot within minutes, even with the windows cracked.

As summer heat settles in, the safer choice is to let your dog skip the errands and relax at home or make sure you have a pet sitting copilot who can safely stay with them while the car runs with the AC on.

Summer will happen eventually, right folks? Haha. While Oklahoma has had a slower start to warmer weather, now is the perfect time to talk about heat before it really settles in and prepare for any upcoming potential heat!

Just a friendly reminder that sidewalks and parking lots can hold heat long after the sun moves on, and once temperatures climb, pavement can get uncomfortable fast. If the ground feels too warm for your hand, it is too warm for your dog’s paws.

Start building the habit now before the hotter days arrive. Early morning and evening walks are usually the safest bet, and your dog’s paws will thank you.

Miss Dolly soaking up the sunshine after her dental cleaning and mass removal surgery.

Don’t worry, that sweet little whimper talk is just Dolly’s communication style. She definitely knows how to ask for extra attention, and she made sure to collect plenty of belly rubs, a little extra sympathy, and all the love she absolutely deserved after being such a brave girl.

Good golly, Miss Dolly!

This sweet 20-pound girl came in for a recent dental cleaning and mass removal, and we have to give big props to her family. Dolly’s teeth were already looking good before her cleaning even began, which tells us her people have been doing a great job with her care at home!

For a thorough and safe dental cleaning, dogs need to be under anesthesia. This allows the team to clean below the gumline, take a closer look at the teeth and mouth, and keep the patient comfortable and still throughout the procedure.

Taylor and Stormi helped get Dolly prepped for her cleaning, Stormi performed the dental cleaning, and Dr. Little Jim removed her mass during the same visit. (Yay! Team effort! Go Team!) Combining needed procedures when appropriate can be easier on the patient because it helps avoid multiple anesthetic events.

And after surgery? Dolly woke up ready for sunshine and belly rubs, so stay tuned for her after surgery video to post soon! We think she knew she had the whole team cheering her on.
