Truth! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

Negativity is a habit—and so is positivity.

When you constantly focus on what went wrong, what you don’t have, who disappointed you, or what might go badly, you’re training your brain to search for more evidence that life is bad. And eventually, you’ll find it everywhere.

The same thing can happen in competition. If you finish every run replaying every mistake, pretty soon mistakes are all you see. You stop noticing the progress, the wins, and the things you actually did right.

Your brain gets better at what you repeatedly ask it to do.

So train it differently.

After a run, a hard day, or a setback, acknowledge what needs improvement—but then intentionally look for what went right. Find the lesson. Find the progress. Find something you're grateful for. Find the next opportunity.

This isn’t pretending bad things don’t happen. It’s refusing to let the bad become the only thing your brain knows how to see.

What you focus on grows. Train your brain to look for the good. Eventually, it will start finding it automatically.

What does a Hippity Hop ball toy have to do with the sitting trot? More than you might think!

"One of the best examples I can give you, if you are of a certain age (and if you’re not, you can Google it), is this marvelous toy that we had as kids called the Hippity Hop. It’s like a yoga ball with a handle. You would grab the handle and bounce yourself forward on the Hippity Hop. That’s the sitting trot mechanism in a nutshell."⁣

To say working with Mark was invaluable is an understatement. I haven’t even been able to post about it (I know, this is your surprised face!) because once again, the work he does is so basic, deep and important, all at once.

I cannot recommend working with Mark enough. He will be back to the Rough Diamond Ranch next year again. Whether you come with a horse or just to audit, I highly encourage you to see his work!

Coordinating all the moving parts of yourself and your horse is no easy feat!

However, rider biomechanics expert Stephany Fish Crossman of Serendipity Dressage explained how imagining your horse’s body as three separate sections can make things more manageable. During our recent Dressage Today+ Members-Only VIP Webinar, she described the horse’s thirds (front, middle and back) and how the rider affects the horse's balance.

Click the link in the Comments section below to find out how you can positively influence your horse with your position. ⬇️

We love hearing from our listeners, and we especially love hearing about who inspires you! While we can all ooh and ahhh over the top horses and riders, it is wonderful to hear about people who are getting it done, day and and day out, in the rest of the country.

We invite you to get to know Jennifer Mutchler, our Unsung Hero for this month!

Also take a listen to Aviva’s thoughtful follow up to a listener’s question on Ask the L. Heck, we are ALL about the listeners!

Enjoy, and share with your friends!
