🚨🌾 LET’S TALK ABOUT WHY HAY PRICES ARE GOING UP! 🌾🚨
Before complaining about the price of hay, take a moment to understand what it ACTUALLY costs to get that bale from the farmer’s field to YOUR barn!
Diesel prices are increasing. The cost of cutting, baling, and producing EACH bale of hay has gone up. The cost of transporting hay from farms across the country down to Florida has increased. And guess what? The cost for US to load it, transport it, deliver it, and hand-stack it at your barn has gone up TOO!
AND LET’S NOT FORGET ABOUT THE WEATHER! 🌧️⛈️
IT HAS BEEN POURING!
Farmers are constantly battling Mother Nature. RAIN, WIND, HEAT, HUMIDITY, AND UNPREDICTABLE TEMPERATURES! Hay production depends heavily on having the right weather conditions. Farmers need enough dry days to cut, cure, bale, and safely store their hay.
Too much rain can delay harvesting, damage crops, reduce hay quality, and sometimes destroy an entire cutting. Farmers can spend weeks preparing a field, only to have Mother Nature change their plans overnight!
And the weather doesn't stop being a problem once the hay leaves the field!
Here in Florida, WE ARE FIGHTING THE SAME BATTLE! Our delivery crews are dealing with heavy rain, flooded roads, muddy properties, inaccessible feed rooms, and constantly changing delivery schedules. We have to work around storms, protect your hay from moisture, and sometimes spend additional days and labor getting orders delivered safely.
And let's not forget about the FARMERS! 🚜
These hardworking people are facing rising equipment costs, fuel, fertilizer, labor, maintenance, transportation expenses, AND unpredictable weather. They're investing more money and taking on more risk just to produce the same bale of hay.
EVERY SINGLE STEP OF THE PROCESS IS GETTING MORE EXPENSIVE! 🚨 ⏰
At Heritage Hay, we don't wake up one morning and decide to raise our prices for fun.
We do everything we can to keep our prices competitive while continuing to deliver quality hay directly to your barn.
But when the cost of producing, purchasing, transporting, and delivering hay increases, eventually our prices HAVE to reflect that. We cannot absorb every increase and continue operating a sustainable business.
SO BEFORE COMPLAINING🚛
Think about the farmer who spent months growing it, only to fight the rain during harvest. Think about the equipment, the fuel, the labor, and the trucker hauling it across the country.
Think about our delivery crews working long days in the Florida heat, dodging thunderstorms, navigating flooded properties, and hand-stacking your hay.
We understand that owning horses is expensive. We own horses too!!!! We understand the frustration of rising costs because we're experiencing those same increases every single day.
SUPPORT YOUR FARMERS. SUPPORT YOUR TRUCKERS. SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL AGRICULTURAL BUSINESSES. 🇺🇸
Without the farmers growing it and the people transporting and delivering it, that hay wouldn't make it to your barn in the first place!
❤️ Thank you to our customers who understand, remain patient during weather delays, and continue supporting Heritage Hay and the hardworking farmers who make it all possible!
