Nestled in the rolling hills of the picturesque Ojai Valley lies a 4.4 acre hidden treasure for wayward animals. Founded in 1932, we here at the Humane Society of Ventura County have been servicing not just the animals of the Ojai Valley, but all of the animals in Ventura County. Traditionally, an animal shelter is thought of as solely a place for animals to seek refuge until a permanent home can

be found. While here at the Humane Society of Ventura County we provide this safe refuge, we also strive to remedy the greater problem of animal overpopulation, abuse and neglect. We are dedicated to promoting the health, safety, welfare, compassionate care and protection of all animals in the Ventura County through education and community outreach. All of our programs, services and outreach are funded one hundred percent by donations, memorials and sponsorships. We are not affiliated with the Humane Society of the United States nor do we receive funding form the city, state or federal government. With the help of many volunteers and continued financial support through donations, memorials and sponsorships we will continue to provide for all animals within our county.

We’re just ONE WEEK away from our next HSVC Cares clinic in Simi Valley 🩺

Join us Saturday, September 12th, from 9 am to 12 pm at Centerpoint Church (2369 Royal Ave.) in Simi Valley. No appointment necessary for vaccines and microchips. First-come, first-served while supplies last! CASH ONLY!

We are offering:
🐱 FREE FVRCP (upper respiratory) vaccines for cats
🐶 FREE DHPP (distemper/parvo) vaccines for dogs
🐾 $10 Rabies vaccines (includes brief exam; proof of previous Rabies vaccination required to receive a 3-year certificate)
🐾 $10 microchips

We will also be offering spay and neuter appointments for Simi Valley residents ONLY:
🐱 Cats: $10
🐶 Dogs: $25
➡️ Drop off at 8 am
⬅️ Pick up between 1 – 2 pm
⚠️ Proof of low-income status is required to schedule an appointment

Nova has been loving her foster getaways, but our longest-stay gal is still waiting for a family of her own. This sweet, spunky 3-year-old is house-trained, crate-trained, does great in the car, and loves to play, explore, and stay active 🐾

Nova thrives with routine and structure and is looking for someone who can continue helping her build confidence. She even has a few dog friends and could potentially live with the right canine companion after a proper introduction 🐶

We’d love nothing more than to see Nova get adopted, but a long-term foster would also give her the chance to settle into home life while she waits to put down her roots 🪴

Got room for a new best friend this long holiday weekend? Come meet Nova or one of our other available pups at 402 Bryant St. in Ojai! We’re open this weekend from 10 am to 6 pm but will be closed Monday, September 7th for Labor Day 💛

This is Bella, and she has quite the story to tell. After losing her human, this senior gal and her two cat siblings found themselves at another shelter before making their way to HSVC 🐾

Her feline friends found homes quickly, while Bella spent months in foster care getting healthy and waiting for her turn ✨

Well, her opportunity finally came! Bella found the perfect match in an adopter originally from Ventura County who now lives in Vermont and happened to be back visiting when she met Bella 🐶

With her new person working from home, Bella gets all the companionship and love she could ask for. Happy tails, Bella! We’re so happy for you 💕

Mr. Shrimp has been with HSVC since May of this year. He lived in Fresno before coming to Ojai and he is ready to continue his journey with his forever home! Squeaky Shrimp is extremely friendly, walks well on a leash, and enjoys the company of everyone he meets!

What a weekend for our shelter pets 🐾

By the end of Clear the Shelters, 24 HSVC dogs and cats had found their new families! Ozzy, Caramel, Nico, Noodle, Thumpy, Nitro, Little Boy & Little Girl, Jerry, Riley Freeman, Coco, Starr, and Shirley are a few more of the pets we got to send off on their next adventures 🥹

Thank you to everyone who came out to adopt, shared our posts, and helped spread the word about our adoptable animals. We’re so grateful for all the support that helped make this weekend so special ✨

Our beautiful girl Sweetie got adopted during Clear the Shelters 🎉 After everything she’s overcome, we couldn’t be happier to see her off to her next chapter 🐾

Sweetie came to us very shy and still unsure of the world around her, but little by little, we watched her confidence grow. With lots of love, patience, and some help from her dog friends, she blossomed into the sweetest pup we knew she could become 🌸

Now it’s time for this sweet girl to spread her wings and keep blossoming with her new family. Here’s to all the love and adventures ahead 💕
