It’s a sad, somber day here at Red Oaks Pet Cottage.
We had to say goodbye to our beloved Lola. ❤️
Eleven years ago, we adopted her when she was around two years old. At the time, we had no idea just how much of our lives she would become a part of.
And if you knew Lola, you knew she had a personality all her own.
She gave us 11 years of love, laughter, companionship, and plenty of stress from her adventures. She could drive us absolutely crazy one minute and have us laughing the next. But through all of it, she was ours.
While she didn’t always get to play with the guests staying with us, she still made sure she was part of everything happening at Red Oaks. When everyone was outside, Lola would make her rounds and visit from the other side of the fence, checking in on everyone like she always did.
She was just always there.
And maybe that’s what makes today so hard.
You get so used to seeing them. Hearing them. Looking outside and knowing exactly where they’ll be. They quietly become part of your everyday life until one day you realize just how big of a piece of your heart they’ve taken up.
Their time on this earth is never long enough. We know that when we bring them into our lives, but somehow that never makes saying goodbye any easier.
Eleven years still wasn’t enough.
But we wouldn’t trade a single one of them.
Thank you for the love, the laughs, the adventures, and all the memories, Lola.
You may no longer be making your rounds around Red Oaks, but you left a lifelong paw print on our hearts that will never go away.
Rest easy, sweet girl. 🐾❤️
