I’m so proud of Elijah ❤️. He’s had a lot of confidence struggles with riding since his little incident at a horse show last fall. He had been working through them really well on Zero, but when we unexpectedly had to retire her this spring, it took a pretty big hit to his confidence all over again. He’s been really nervous riding horses that aren’t Zero. I’ve been trying to convince him to ride Ellie for a while and he will at the walk but that’s it. She’s the safest, sweetest horse around ❤️.

Lijah has been really nervous to trot on horses that aren’t Zero. But today we talked through it, and he was feeling brave, and I may or may not have bribed him with candy... Noah and I both told him he could do it, and Noah even informed him that when he felt Ellie’s trot it was going to “BLOW HIS MIND!” 🤣

So he tried it today and he did AMAZING. He was confident enough to go around a couple times on his own and was super proud of himself after. He told me “I did it without any worries or struggles!!”

I’m so proud of this kiddo. And very grateful for our beloved Ellie Bellies ❤️

"My horse leans on the shoulder."
"My horse won't stay balanced."
"My horse drifts."
"My horse won't pick up the correct lead."

Maybe. But before we point the finger at the horse, have you asked yourself:

Am I being a good partner?

Are you sitting evenly in the saddle or are you leaning to one side?

Are your hands soft and low, or are they creeping up and holding onto your horse's face?

Are you balanced over your feet or are you asking your horse to carry your weight while compensating for your position?

The truth is that horses spend a lot of time trying to make up for us. They carry our weight, balance our mistakes and do their best to interpret the signals we give them, even when those signals are confusing.

So when something isn't going quite right, I always encourage riders to look at themselves first.

Our horses work with what we give them. If we're crooked, they have to compensate. If we're stiff, they have to work around it. If we're unbalanced, they have to pick up the slack.

Good horsemanship isn't about finding fault, but about taking responsibility for our half of the partnership. Before asking, "What's wrong with my horse?" try asking, "What can I do better for my horse?"

Leroy is a 23-year-old registered Half-Arabian gelding looking for his person.

This has been a difficult decision as Leroy is a very sweet, personable guy who is genuinely fun to ride and be around. We’ve been trying to make him work for our family, but ultimately believe there may be a more fitting home out there for him.

Leroy has been primarily a saddle seat horse during his show career, but since being with us we’ve been working on western and ranch riding and he has really taken to it with a lot of try. He neck reins and has very smooth gaits. He is smart, willing, enjoys using his brain and truly seems happiest when he has a job to do.

We feel Leroy would do best in a home where he has purpose and consistency, whether that be as a walk/trot horse in a structured program, a trail partner or with someone who enjoys building a relationship with their horse and keeping them mentally engaged.

Leroy is easy to handle and loves people. He does have anxieties and some quirks that we are more than happy to discuss in detail with serious, interested buyers.

We are committed to finding Leroy the home he deserves, where he can continue to thrive and be appreciated for the sweet horse that he is.
