In between hunting, I worked on putting some skulls together and getting a European mount ready for it's Maceration Process. Maceration is a natural, water-based decomposition method used to clean a deer skull for a European mount without boiling the bone. Boiling cooks grease deep into the bone and can damage delicate nasal structures.
European mounts are $125.00
$50 if you are getting a mount done

Unfortunately, suppliers have gone up on prices and shipping is outrageous so Deer Shoulder mounts are $700 this year. Half deposit upfront
European mounts will remain at $125

🦌 When we step into the woods for archery season, we carry a profound ethical responsibility to the animals we pursue. Fred Bear envisioned archery as an up-close, tactical chess match—not a test of how far we can launch an arrow.

​That respect for the animal means waiting for high-percentage, ethical shots. On a whitetail, that means prioritizing broadside or quartering-away presentations, which offer clear pathways to both lungs and vital organs.

​A quartering-towards shot or a low-percentage poke drastically increases the risk of clipping just a single lung. A deer can travel a long, painful way on one lung, making recovery difficult and uncertain. Take out both lungs with a clean, high-percentage shot, and that animal won't go far.

​Just because modern equipment makes a long shot physically possible doesn't mean we should take it. Patience, discipline, and absolute lethal certainty are what separates an ethical bowhunter from someone simply slinging arrows. Honor the traditions, respect the game, and wait for the right shot.

Saskatchewan, Canada Black Bears.
Tanned, washed and oiled up for the night. 3 down 7 more to go. 🐻
There's going to be some major brushing going on with these Bears. They have Balsam Poplar buds all in their hair.
Extreme Stickiness: Balsam poplar trees produce large terminal winter buds that are completely coated in a thick, intensely gooey, aromatic resin.
​The "Velcro" Effect: When animals like black or grizzly bears brush past the low-hanging branches or fallen twigs in the Canadian boreal forests, these resin-soaked buds act like nature's strongest Velcro, instantly gluing themselves deep into the fur.

A Bear getting ready for rugging. Its been tanned, tumbled, brushed, oiled and rolled up for the night. I probably should have trimmed it before I oiled it but oh well no big deal.
