In an ever-changing environment, where everyone here tries their best to put the horse first as much as possible, there’s always more ways to smooth out the shared communication spaces so everyone can contribute to prioritizing our ponies.
When ponies can stay awhile or come and go, when there is always a high quantity on the farm, an array of tack options, developing young equine bodies, with multiple trainer riders, young riders coming to ride with Emily, Emily’s students, pony trials, and the Equestrian Essentials program, among many other opportunities because of Emily who so wonderfully keeps our barn doors open for, tack fit can get lost in the mix without a place for everyone to easily reference.
And, is one of those things that matters to these pony athletes more than a lot of people are willing to admit.
This board has been my baby. With the goal of trying to simplify tack fit for the reality that there is natural turnover, that there will always be the possibility someone new will come to ride a pony, and that someone who knows what fits might not be there to fill them in. It is important to me, and the entire team, that these ponies who work so hard, are as comfortable as we can allow for in the equipment we put on their bodies.
Now, with dry erasable Velcro pieces it will be easy for me to shuffle ponies around on the board or remove, add, or swap as turnover occurs to keep it easy to find a pony’s name with their info. I keep the extras handy in a baggie nearby.
This will allow the professional team to communicate equipment needs for ponies while in our program and keep our equine athletes comfortable, willing, and happy to do their job in the equipment provided and with the humans that are eager to partner with them.
