Here is how to protect your pet:
Prevention first. Use veterinarian-recommended flea and tick prevention products regularly, such as topical treatments, collars, or oral medications.
Always consult your vet before choosing the best option for your pet.
Check your pet frequently. After walks or time outdoors, run your fingers through your pet's coat, paying special attention to the neck, ears, belly, and between the paws.

Treat your home too. Fleas don't just live on your pet. Wash your pet's bedding regularly, vacuum frequently, and treat your home environment if needed.

Never remove a tick with your bare hands. Use tweezers or a tick removal tool, grasp as close to the skin as possible, and pull steadily. Clean the area with antiseptic afterward.
