New places are perfect for exploring that novel feeling with our dogs
The more we explore with our doggos the more they trust us & our guidance !
That is why I take it up a notch and make sure to do a couple rounds at each new place I go. Once I have a read on the lay of the land, I let my Dog have at it.

In other words you shouldnt just disappear when practicing crate training. You should be there, waiting to capitalize on the downshift
Now, you do not need a treadmill, but if you have one the process becomes much faster. Out of crate on treadmill=work. Off of the treadmill into the crate=rest

This video also proves a point. Do not try to call your Dog from something more interesting than YOU and if you are going to try…you should have a long line or ecollar so you can follow through.
That being said, I will often use healthy stress like this to reinforce my dogs sticking closer to me when I am in a safe and secure, but open area

One of the best things we can do for our anxious, fearful or reactive dogs is create a space for them to explore, be curious & engage in their senses
