Paws of Tomorrow Located at the Delaware Beaches, we are a 501c3 animal rescue founded in 2008. Paws of Tomorrow animal rescue is based out of Fenwick Island, DE.

We are not a shelter, we are an animal rescue that works with shelters to save dogs on death row, as well as injured and abandoned animals. All individuals that work with our rescue are volunteers and do this solely to help these animals find homes. We take pride in knowing that we are not only helping these animals but also helping you find the perfect pet for your home. We are a 501c3 federally recognized non-profit animal rescue, which means that all donations are fully tax deductible. We accept donations to cover the cost of rescuing and caring for dogs that would otherwise not have a second chance at life. We can only pull dogs if we have the funding to do so. With your help we can help more dogs than ever expected. Together we can save one life at a time. Most people are unaware of what "really" goes on in shelters across America. Our goal is to raise this awareness. Many shelters are high kill shelters, mostly due to lack of financing, lack of volunteers, and lack of space. Many of these shelters are gassing shelters. This means that the animals are placed in a gas chamber to be euthanized. This caused these animals extreme pain. You can read more about this on our “Gas Chamber” web page. If you wish to foster a dog, please fill out our foster application on our application page. We will then contact you to discuss which dog will be right for your home. We see so many dogs each week that are in urgent need of foster homes. You can request to foster a specific dog that shows as "needs foster" on our site or we will help choose one that fits your home the best. You can specify the size, color, breed, etc that you prefer and we will discuss what may be best fitting for your home. We cover all vetting fees for our fostered animals. In order to adopt one of our amazing dogs, an adoption application is required. Please see our adoption page to learn more information on our adoption process. You will not be considered until an application is received by us. Once we receive your application we will contact you to do a phone interview. At that time we can answer any questions you may have. Please look at the specific dog you are interested in for the adoption fee. The fees vary by the vetting required, transport, age, and shelter fees for each pet. These fees are non-negotiable. This is an "Adoption Fee" and is solely for the adoption of that pet. We try to fully vet each dog but this is not guaranteed by paying the adoption fee. Paws of Tomorrow will adopt our loving pets to any area in the United States. We can help to provide transport of your new family member however please be aware that transport may require an extra charge. Please contact us for details. We require an application to be submitted prior to meeting one of our pets. We want to know a little about you before sending you to our volunteer’s home. Adopting is a huge responsibility and we need to know this will be a lifelong commitment to the animal. Paws of Tomorrow, Inc. will only consider adoption to FOREVER homes. It is also mandatory that if for any reason you cannot keep the pet at anytime, the animal must be returned to our rescue. If we find that you have not honored this, legal charges will be filed. The application/contract you sign explains all of this also. We do not tolerate any of our dogs going back to a shelter. We do not rescue them from high kill shelters for them to end up back where they started. We take this oath seriously and expect all our adopters to do the same. Adopting should be a lifelong commitment and rewarding experience! If you are interested in joining our team, please fill out a volunteer application. 💙 AN UPDATE ON OLIVER: STILL LOOKING FOR HIS PERFECT MATCH

Sometimes, fostering teaches us things about a dog that we simply can’t know until they’re living in a home environment. And that’s exactly what has happened with Oliver.

Following a recent foster-to-adopt placement, we’ve learned that while Oliver does well with other dogs the vast majority of the time, there is that small percentage of moments when things can escalate into a fight. Unfortunately, even if it happens only 1% of the time, that’s a risk we have to take seriously.

Because of this, we believe Oliver will be happiest and safest as the only dog in the home.

This doesn’t mean Oliver is a bad dog, and it doesn’t mean he can’t enjoy life to the fullest. He’s still the same affectionate, playful, silly little Frenchie who loves his people, car rides, toys, adventures, and especially the BEACH! He has so much personality packed into his 28-pound body, and he deserves a home where he can simply relax and be loved without the stress of sharing his space with another dog.

Oliver is 8 years old, deaf, and ready for someone to give him the chance he deserves. He’s looking for a foster or adopter who understands that being an only dog isn’t a negative. It’s simply what will allow him to thrive.

EBENEZER IS READY FOR HIS FOREVER HOME! 🐾

Although he can still be a little unsure at times, Ebenezer has come such a long way and has officially completed his training program!

His favorite commands are “place” and “heel,” and he truly thrives with structure, consistency, and someone he can trust.

This boy has so much love to give. He wants to be loved, to make his person happy, and to be the very best boy he can be. He’s willing to work hard for that connection, and watching his confidence grow has been incredibly rewarding.

Ebenezer still needs someone who understands that trust takes time. He needs a patient person willing to move at his pace, give him room to settle in, and let their relationship develop without rushing him.

In return, you’ll have a loyal companion who wants nothing more than to learn, grow, and build a bond with his person.

🖤🐾 OCTOBER IS ADOPT-A-SHELTER-DOG MONTH AND BLACK DOG APPRECIATION MONTH! 🐾🖤

And today, we’re letting our sweet Ebenezer help us spread the message.

This handsome boy has come such a long way, and we couldn’t be prouder of him. He’s a reminder that every dog has a story, every dog deserves a chance, and sometimes the dogs who need us most are the ones people overlook.

Black dogs are often passed by in shelters. Their beautiful faces can be harder to capture in photographs, and sadly, they sometimes wait longer for someone to notice them.

But look at Ebenezer. Look at those eyes. That happy face. That beautiful, fluffy coat.

There is SO much more to a dog than the color of their fur.

And while October also celebrates Pit Bull Appreciation Month, we want to remind everyone that no dog should be judged by their appearance or breed label. Every dog deserves to be seen as an individual, given a fair chance, and loved for who they are.

At Paws of Tomorrow, we believe the overlooked dogs are worth fighting for. The scared dogs. The misunderstood dogs. The dogs who need a little extra time to feel safe. The dogs who have been waiting far too long for someone to choose them.

Ebenezer is one of those dogs who reminds us why we do what we do. 🖤

This month, we challenge you to do something that could change a dog’s life:

🐾 ADOPT if you’re ready to welcome a new family member.
🐾 FOSTER if you can offer a dog a safe place to land.
🐾 SHARE the dogs who keep getting overlooked.
🐾 ADVOCATE for the dogs judged by their color, appearance, or breed.

You never know which share will reach the person who changes everything.

Sheba’s world changed when her owner passed away.

She had been part of a home with other dogs, and since then, two of those dogs have already found new families. Sheba is the last one still waiting for hers.

Sheba is a high-energy girl with a big personality, but she is also a dog who settles beautifully when given proper structure, boundaries, and expectations. She does well in a crate and truly is a wonderful girl.

She enjoys other dogs and loves to play, although her play style can be enthusiastic and boisterous. Because of her energy, I would not recommend a home with small children or very small animals.

And cats? 😄
Let’s just say the cats would probably need their own floor of the house. Sheba should be placed in a cat-free home.

Sheba is also a chewer, so her new family will need to give her appropriate outlets for that energy. If she doesn’t have something suitable to chew on, she may decide to find something herself! She also cannot have a traditional dog bed right now because she will chew and destroy it. Good management, durable enrichment, exercise, and appropriate chew options will be important for her.

None of that makes Sheba a bad dog. It simply means she needs a home that understands her, keeps her appropriately occupied, and gives her the structure she does so well with.

What she really needs now is someone willing to look past the fact that she has energy and see the dog underneath it—a dog who has already lost her person, lost the home she knew, watched her canine housemates move on, and is still waiting for someone to choose her.

Sheba has been residing at Millsboro Animal Hospital (302-945-2330) since her owner passed away, and applications are currently being accepted through the hospital for her adoption.

She doesn’t need perfection. She needs someone willing to give her consistency, exercise, structure, appropriate outlets, and a place where she can finally belong again.

Sweet Ebenezer is currently away at training, and he has surprised us all with just how willing he is to embrace the experience. ❤️

He’s in a completely new and unfamiliar environment, surrounded by people he doesn’t know, yet this sweet boy has shown that all he really wants is to be loved.

Eby isn’t food motivated, but he is more than happy to work for praise, affection, and encouragement. He’s working hard on mastering heel, place, and sit, and he’s doing such a great job.

We are SO proud of his courage and willingness to learn. Watching him step outside of his comfort zone and discover that new people, new experiences, and training can be good things has been incredible.

We can’t wait to see what this boy accomplishes. Keep going, Eby. We’re so proud of you! ❤️🐾

HAPPY TAILS FOR TURBO! NOW INTRODUCING BEAU! ❤️🐾

We are beyond happy to announce that our perfect, handsome Turbo has officially found his forever home!

But there’s a little more to this happily-ever-after. Turbo will now go by Beau, a name chosen for a very special reason.

His new mom shared with us that Beau’s name is a way to honor his original owner, while also adding a little Southern charm as a nod to their own Texas roots.

And then there’s the part of this story that makes it all the more meaningful. Beau’s original owner and his new mom’s father both passed away on the exact same day, from lung-related illnesses. Two lives, connected in an unexpected way, and now a very special dog bringing a little more love into someone’s life.

His new mom said, “If anything is ever meant to be, it’s Beau and I.” We couldn’t have said it better ourselves.

Turbo, now Beau, we hope your days are filled with endless love, adventures, cozy naps, and all the happiness you deserve. Your next chapter has officially begun! Congratulations, Beau and Marnie! Thank you for opening your heart and home. We have a feeling this was exactly where Beau was meant to be. ♥️ Another happy tail!

It’s been a busy week in rescue, and we have LOTS of happy updates coming your way! ❤️

It looks like our sweet Oliver may have found his forever! He’s currently enjoying a little sleepover with a potential adopter, and something tells us this could be the beginning of something pretty special.

Sometimes, the right dog finds the right person at just the right time. And we have a feeling fate may have had a hand in bringing these two together. It looks like Oliver may have finally found the missing piece to his puzzle.

We are absolutely loving all the updates and are keeping our fingers crossed that this is the forever we’ve been hoping for!

Sweet Oliver needs a foster home ASAP, and we’re hoping someone will open their heart and home to this incredibly lovable boy.

At 9 years old and deaf, Oliver has so much life and personality left to give. He is a happy, playful, people-loving guy who absolutely LOVES his toys, especially balls. Give him a ball and you’ll quickly see just how much fun this boy is! 🎾

Oliver adores children and loves being right in the middle of whatever his people are doing. He’s also fine with cats and has done well with female dogs. He has been selective with male dogs, particularly one larger male, so a home with female dogs or as the only dog may be the best fit.

Oliver also prefers to keep his food to himself around other dogs. With people, however, he is a perfect gentleman around food.

What Oliver really needs is someone willing to give him a safe place to land. A quiet place to decompress, a little patience, some toys, and a whole lot of love.

He has spent 9 years becoming the wonderful dog he is. He shouldn’t have to spend another day waiting for someone to choose him.

Sweet Oliver loves posing for the camera, especially when there’s a ball in your hand! Balls are his absolute favorite treasure, but really, this boy has a love for all things toys and playtime.

And children? Oliver absolutely adores them. Although, we’re not entirely sure if he loves kids more, or if he just loves how much they adore him! 😂 Either way, he can’t get enough of his people and is happiest when he’s right in the middle of the fun.

Oliver is just a happy, playful, people-loving boy who wants to be part of everything. He just needs to find his perfect forever home.

Oliver likes other dogs, although if he had to choose, he’d probably pick his people every time. He’s done well with all the female dogs he’s met, but he has had an issue with one larger male dog, so we think he may simply prefer the ladies!

Oliver also prefers not to share his food with other dogs. And honestly… can you blame him?! When it comes to people, though, he is a perfect gentleman around food.

Overall, Oliver is a sweet, playful, people-loving guy who knows what he likes and isn’t shy about letting you know!

Does Oliver like the beach?

This little guy LOVES it. Sand between his toes, waves rolling in, new smells everywhere and plenty of room to explore — Oliver was living his BEST life.

And just look at that face. I think the smile says it all. ❤️

Oliver is deaf, but he certainly doesn't let that stop him from enjoying an adventure!
