What happens if you miss a class? You make it up in another class. Once you’re through my basic classes I’m more than happy to have you make up scheduling issues by popping into another class. It’s class tasting kind of!

Today Amanda joined us for our first new Urban manners and then we celebrated her ‘graduation’ at friteandscoop nothing wrong with well behaved dogs and ice cream!

Plus we found Cecil downtown!

Let's talk about experiences with your dog for a moment. I’m so excited to see so many new puppies in training right now and I firmly believe classes are invaluable. But so are experiences outside of training class.

As dog trainers we of course want you to train your dog. Training opens up a world of possibilities to you, your dog, and where you can go/what you can accomplish.

But equally important is experiences. Here are some of the things I want to expose my dog to in the first couple years of life.

1 - Forest walks
2 - City sidewalks
3 - Outdoor Cafes
4 - Hotel rooms
5 - Elevators
6 - Outside steps
7 - metal grate surfaces
8 - Outside music
9 - Sandy surfaces
10 - Rocky surfaces
11 - Long (4+ hour) car rides
12 - Pottying on leash next to a busy road
13 - Settling in a lobby
14 - Carts being pushed beside them
15 - 5 different farm animals
16 - Wheelbarrows
17 - Items dropping near them.
18 - Crating in a new (safe) environment and being left for a couple hours.
19 - Babies Crying
20 - Blow up creatures.
21 - Walking across bridges
22 - Jumping over a low obstacle.
23 - Training in at least 5 places.
24 - Dog Show
25 - 3 Nights in a row away from home.
26 - A child screeching
27 - Ignoring a barking dog
28 - 5 different pet friendly stores.
29 - Riding in another car besides mine.
30 - A backyard event on leash.
31 - Farmers market
32 - Being safely crated during a party/event.
33 - Kites
34 - Water play
35 - Hiking in a new area
36 - Be groomed by someone else
37 - spend the night away from home with a trusted friend.
38 - See the vet for a happy dog visit
39 - Be handled by a stranger
40 - Explore a tunnel

What are some unique experiences you have given your dog?

“I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers. It would be terrible if we just skipped from September to November, wouldn't it?" - Anne Shirley

I agree. October is magical especially when summer is lingering on.

Attention attention..

Due to popular demand, I’m going to go ahead and schedule another round of classes to end right before Christmas. 🤶

They’ll be in Ocean Park because they’ll have to be inside.

What do you want to take? And please 🙏 sign up early ish so I can make my schedule. But it’s not like I do much besides train dogs, knit and hang out with you all anyway 🥰

Put your requests below for Mondays and Weds…

Much chicken was consumed in the making of this retrieve. It’s not perfect but we can build on it. And she didn’t throw the dumbbell at me at all today!

Every photo tells a story. Some tell a hidden story. This isn’t the ‘best’ moving shot I have of Remy. We have some spectacular moving shots from in the ring.

But this shot was taken with me in front and calling him. Spoiler: Remy doesn’t trot on his recalls, he bounds!

So after he raced to me the first time we set him up again, and I thought for a second. He knows walk up. What are the chances I can speed that up. A few moments and some marker words and he learned trot trot as a cue to trot towards me. Not walk up, not race in a recall but trot steadily. All without a leash, with just a few minutes of time, and on a beach being photographed.

So this picture is special, even if there’s a little extra bounce in his footfalls. Because I see his single minded focus, his easy trot, and a reminder of what really matters is the heart and mind of a dog along with the looks. Remy trot trot Good!
