Back from Montana after celebrating Violet’s graduation and spending some much needed time with my daughters Cheyenne and Violet, along with my mom.

We are incredibly proud over here at The Grooming Garage of our Violet. Many of you remember her from the early days when the shop was still at my home and she was our little receptionist helping greet clients at the new location. Watching her grow into the woman she has become has been one of the greatest joys of my life.

Now it’s back to reality and I’ll be playing catch up all week with appointments and messages.

Huge shout out to Shasta Stolle and Dodie Otoupalik for holding down the fort while I was away. I’m very lucky to have such an amazing team.

💪💪There are hundreds of thousands of dog groomers in the U.S. alone, and well over a million worldwide.
Very few ever put both their individual skills and their entire operation up for true safety evaluation.💥💥
We’re proud to bring that level of care to our small town and the Peninsula.
The Grooming Garage is now an AKC S.A.F.E. Certified Salon.
Each of our groomers completed AKC Safety in the Salon training and passed individual testing to become AKC certified.
Our entire salon was then put to the test as well, with a full evaluation of handling, kenneling, bathing systems, equipment, and daily safety protocols.
Everything was reviewed, including individual test scores and the full facility inspection, before final approval and sign off.
The salon itself was awarded certification on its own merit.
This wasn’t just a class. It was a full look at how we care for dogs from start to finish.
We’re proud of it, and even more proud to offer it here on our peninsula!

Flea & Tick Season Is Here – And It’s Early

We are seeing a significant increase in fleas this year much earlier than in previous seasons, and ticks have officially made their appearance on the Peninsula.
Because of this, we are now requiring that all dogs coming into The Grooming Garage be on an active flea and tick prevention program.
This is not optional.💥

As a grooming salon, daycare, and boarding facility maintaining a clean, pest free environment is critical. We are a haircutting and pet care facility, and the presence of fleas or ticks puts every dog in our care at risk, along with the integrity of our workspace.
Important to know:
We DO NOT treat fleas or ticks in the salon
Flea and tick treatment is a veterinary responsibility
We do not carry flea shampoos or in-shop treatments because they are not effective in eliminating infestations.

From our professional experience here on the coast:
** Monthly oral flea/tick prevention (every 30 days) has shown the most consistent, reliable results
We have seen excellent success rates with oral medications in this area
**Topical treatments (applied to the back) have not performed well locally and, in some cases, have caused skin irritation or been groomed off by the dog licking.
** Flea collars. Very low success rate, has been known to have issues with sensitivity to skin, and we have pulled them off dogs where it has caused a secondary skin infection. We will not accept this as a monthly treatment.
Fleas and ticks are not just a nuisance, they are a health concern. Prevention is far easier, safer, and more effective than trying to address an active problem, allergies, and secondary infection.
If your dog arrives with fleas or ticks, services will be declined or rescheduled until proper veterinary treatment has been started.
We’re here to keep your dogs safe, comfortable, and healthy and that starts with a pest free environment for everyone.
If you have questions about what prevention option is best for your dog, we are always happy to point you in the right direction and recommend speaking with your veterinarian.

Got all the sites marked off for final measurements for the potty area! After years in the workings, it's finally coming together. The potty area will go in first💩 followed by the arena.
💣Please be extra mindful when driving through the big parking lot. We have steaks and marker string, and that side is now entirely blocked off getting ready for construction!

As per most of your recommendations we have hired Kyle Wirkkala at Wirkkala Construction to deliver our materials to the shop for all our brand new cool stuff going in!

Question for everybody!? We are going to build a dedicated potty area for the dogs in the big parking lot :)
As Well As- An outside training ring! Its been in the works for a bit, just waiting out weather, and finally got Lake Grooming Garage solved.

We need Sand and pea gravel (A lot)
What local businesses do you trust and recommend? Keeping in mind that we need very clean sand and very clean gravel because of our very sensitive paw paws!
