Witnessing the progress Jazmin Holguin has made with Hudson first hand has been a demonstration of true. From age 4-6 she taught him to jump thus starting his new career after the track. He wasn’t easy. The bigger the jumps, the stronger he would get and become unsafe. Rather than toy with new tack and gadgets to “control” him, she decided they would go back to basics before moving forward with shows. This is where it gets tough. One show season turned into two, but she remained disciplined and kept following her instincts. Basics are the toughest part of horsemanship because they can be boring and are often looked over. The results are a balanced, well mannered horse on the course with the mental capacity to take care of himself and his rider. A performance horse with a strong mental capacity is ultimately a horse that will thrive in longevity not only mentally but physically as well. The root of most problems can be found and removed with the basics if one is disciplined enough to stick with the boring parts. SCS will be cheering these guys on in the upcoming season.
