Meet OSO, a one-of-a-kind senior gentleman who’s been there, done that, and still has plenty of loving and living left to do! ❤️

At approximately 9 years young, Oso has a look all his own! With one striking blue eye, a hint of brindle in his coat, and an adorable curly tail, he’s quite the handsome fellow!

Oso might make a little commotion when you walk past his kennel, but don’t let that fool you. He’s just hoping you’ll notice him! Once his kennel door opens, he turns into Mr. Polite! He’s easy to leash, and rather than pulling, he simply struts his stuff! 🐕‍🦺

Out in the play yard, this smart cookie is happy to show off his tricks, including sit and paw, especially when treats are involved! 🦴 He’s easygoing, a pleasure to walk, and a wonderful companion to spend time with.

Oso has participated in playgroups with a Gentle Dainty playstyle and Selective sociability, so thoughtful introductions with other dogs are important.

Meet Evie Jean! 💕 This happy, fun-loving girl has earned herself a very special job at the shelter — Helper Dog! Think of her as the mayor of the play yard, welcoming other dogs and helping them feel comfortable during playgroup. 🐶

A favorite among staff and volunteers, Evie Jean has a wonderful social personality and a zest for life that’s contagious! She’s full of love, enthusiasm, and joy, making every outing a good time. ❤️

Evie Jean is still working on her leash manners, so she’ll need a little patience and guidance. But with her happy spirit and eagerness to enjoy life, she’s sure to make the journey fun!

Meet Patchy! This handsome boy may not be completely sold on his name, but he’s got plenty of personality to make up for it! 😍

Patchy is a sweet, playful fellow who loves treats, affection, and spending time with people. He’s easy to get out of his kennel, manageable on leash, and a nice size at just 48 pounds.

🐶 As for other dogs, Patchy currently shares a kennel with his buddy Gustav, and the two get along great! He has not yet been formally assessed in playgroup, so his overall play style and compatibility with other dogs are still unknown. What we do know is that he has been doing well with his current kennel mate!

And did we mention he’s handsome? Patchy overheard the volunteers saying so, and we think he might agree! 😉

October is Pit Bull Awareness Month—a chance to celebrate the loving hearts, goofy personalities, and playful spirits of these deeply misunderstood dogs. So many are waiting in shelters, with endless affection to give and no family to call their own. They deserve to be known for who they are, beyond the stereotypes. Let’s help these wonderful dogs find forever homes where they can feel safe, cherished, and loved right back. ❤️🐾
