Dr. Billiar of Billiar Animal Hospital in Ocala, Florida sedated this tiger and lion this past weekend to do full exams and bloodwork on both of them. The lioness was primarily sedated to put birth control implants under the skin. Amazing animals and keepers!

Oh My! How cute is this young Capybara??? He was brought to Billiar Animal Hospital in Ocala, Florida for an upper respiratory infection and conjunctivitis so antibiotics were prescribed, along with eye medication and Vitamin C chews. A f***l parasite test was also done and found to be negative.

This poor Spur Thigh Tortoise was brought to Billiar Animal Hospital because she had stopped eating and was lethargic. Once she was turned over it was apparent that she had a blockage of hard urates and f***s in her cloaca. The material was removed and she let out a big sigh of relief as a large amount of backed up urine, urates and liquidy f***s were expelled!

A pretty Ball Python was brought to Billiar Animal Hospital for a full examination. The owner requested husbandry advice in order to keep her healthy. She had beautiful bluish eyes!

A sweet 11 month old female African Serval waking up from anesthesia after a full work up to find out why she was not feeling well. Servals are famous for having the longest legs and largest ears relative to its body size of any feline. Their long legs act as powerful springs, allowing the cat to leap 9-12 feet vertically into the air to sn**ch birds or insects and pounce on prey with remarkable accuracy.

This sweet African Penguin was brought to BIlliar Animal Hospital in Ocala, FL for a complete examination, f***l parasite test, f***l culture, bloodwork, and x-rays!

During my veterinary facility visit last Saturday I was lucky to get to see this little girl baby Kinkajou! USDA requires an attending veterinarian visit an exotic animal facility that exhibits and or sells . A Program of Veterinary Care including emergency planning, and enrichment plans for the animals is developed for the facility. I do these facility visits for exotic animal facilities throughout the state of Florida on my weekends.

A White Tailed Deer fawn waking up from anesthesia after a thorough exam, bloodwork, f***l parasite test, and f***l culture. An intravenous catheter was inserted and fluids were started, a long acting antibiotic was given and a stomach tube was used to give her medications and pedialyte since she refused to eat. She will remain hospitalized at Billiar Animal Hospital for continued care.

One of my very favorite looking birds are Keel-billed Toucans, also known as Sulfur-breasted Toucans, due to their amazing coloration! They inhabit tropical and subtropical rainforests from Southern Mexico to the Northern Columbia and are also the national bird of Belize.
