Ouch! The littlest of the 10 Guinea Pigs that were brought to Billiar Animal Hospital to determine sexes kept biting me! They were absolutely adorable and there were 5 boys and 5 girls. The owner wanted to make sure on their sexes to separate them so he doesn’t have any more pups, which is what baby Guinea Pigs are called.

This sweet heart, Malaya, is waking up from anesthesia at Billiar Animal Hospital after her yearly examination, bloodwork, and f***l parasite test. The owner drives a long way every year to have this done to make sure all is well with her.

Meet Bob the Red Kangaroo who was brought to Billiar Animal Hospital in Ocala, Florida for an examination, bloodwork, and IV fluids. He has ongoing issues from a past fractured leg that was repaired by a board certified orthopedic surgeon. Bob is super sweet yet very strong and lets us work on him without anesthesia.

A very sweet outgoing Red-Footed Tortoise was brought to Billiar Animal Hospital in Ocala, Florida after being rescued from the previous owner. Her carapace (shell on top) showed signs of pyramiding most likely due to previous improper diet. She was noted to pass a large amount of rocks when first obtained. The radiographs show that she has three well formed eggs. She is eating well, is very active, with no signs of egg retention so a proper laying sight was recommended along with a balanced diet, with calcium added and natural sunlight.

This wild pig was found wondering by the road in Hudson, Florida therefore he was named “Hudson”. He wondered up to the driver who took him in to keep him from getting hit by a car and to treat him for the numerous ticks he had on him. A f***l parasite check at Billiar Animal Hospital also determined that he had a lot of intestinal parasites so he was dewormed. He was very calm and friendly! One of my veterinary assistants took him home because she loves pigs and will give him a good home!

This handsome male Leopard Gecko was brought to Billiar Animal Hospital in Ocala, Florida for hemipene plugs which are hardened accumulations of dried s***m, cellular debris, and some some sm**ma that block the hemipenes inside a males cloacal area. The impacted hemipene plugs were carefully everted outward and the debris was removed

Wow, we sure see a lot of chickens at Billiar Animal Hospital that are truly loved by their owners! This chicken had sores on the underside of the foot which is called bumble foot and a very common problem in chickens. Usually it has to do with what the bird is walking on, perching on, jumping off of that causes the issue.

Eight week old Fox Squirrels that were hand raised after they were rescued from a tree that had to be cut down when they were little hairless rodents. The main threat to Fox Squirrels is the destruction of their native habitat due to it being converted to pasture, or used for agriculture, commercial or residential development. Their natural diet primarily consists of long leaf pine seeds, turkey oak acorns, but they will also eat fungi, fruit and buds. These two Fox Squirrels are being cared for by a licensed wildlife rehabilitator that specializes squirrels. These two squirrels will need to be released in a private area where it is secure for Fox Squirrels because they will have minimal fear of humans.
