In 1714, a 24-year-old Norwegian commander named Peter Tordenskjold found himself in a tough spot. His ship was running low on am******on, but he wasn't ready to give up.
He was fighting a larger English ship for two days. After 14 hours, he sent a messenger to the English captain with a polite request: could they lend him some ammo so the duel could continue?
The English captain was so amused that he refused with a smile. The two crews then raised their glasses, toasted each other's health, and went their separate ways.
When Tordenskjold returned home, he was court-martialed for his actions—but he told his story to the king, who laughed and set him free. He even got promoted.
A pirate with charm and a letter that made history. ⚓🗡️🍻
