From Loki’s owner:
With a very heavy heart, I need to find a new home for my dad’s baby, Loki. 💔
This is something I never thought I would have to do.
My dad had a serious fall and is now dealing with medical problems that unfortunately mean he will not be able to return home. Loki has been his baby, his companion, and such a big part of his life. Knowing that he won’t be able to go home to her is heartbreaking, and trying to find the right person to love her is incredibly difficult for me.
Loki is a Siamese, and I believe she is around 4 years old. If you know Siamese cats, you know how deeply they can bond with their person. My dad was absolutely her person.
Since my dad has been away from home, his best friend has been caring for Loki and spending a few hours with her every day. She has grown to love him and has created a very sweet bond with him. That gives me hope because it shows me that she can trust and love someone new when she feels safe and has time to get to know them.
She is very leery of strangers. She will come up to me, rub against me and love on me, but she still won’t let me pet her and may hiss if I try. I honestly don’t know if that is fear, her personality, or if she could become aggressive when she feels threatened, so I want to be completely upfront about that.
Because she was so bonded to my dad and now has also bonded with his best friend, I do wonder if she may be more comfortable with a man. I can’t say that for certain, but I want to find someone who will understand her and give her the time she needs.
She is going to need a patient, loving person who won’t expect her to trust immediately. Someone who will let her come around on her own terms and understand that underneath that cautious exterior is a little girl who has had her entire world turned upside down.
I’m also not sure how she would do with other cats, dogs, or children, so a quiet home where she can be the only pet may be best for her.
I will provide her veterinary records and anything I can to help make the transition easier.
My dad would never have given Loki up if he had the choice. He loved her, and she loved him. I just want to do right by both of them and find someone who will give her a safe, permanent home and hopefully become her new person.
If you think you might be the right person for Loki, or if you know someone who has experience with Siamese cats and would be willing to give her the patience and love she deserves, please reach out to me.
And please share this. I truly believe her person is out there somewhere. ❤️🐾
