An open letter to the USMT:
We would like to thank you for a tremendous run. The last game didn’t go the way any of us wanted, but don’t let that overshadow the incredible success that you have accomplished.
You played with bold faith, grace, strength, and pure grit and determination. You left it all out there every time you took the pitch. You represented this country with absolute class.
Most of us will never fully understand the sacrifices you have made - the last four years of nonstop training, working, traveling, injuries, rehabilitation, strain on relationships…all to get a chance to wear the USA kit, walk onto the pitch with billions watching (and judging) and give it your absolute best.
Thank you. Thank you for the memories. Thank you for the scratchy throats we have as we yelled at our tv screens as you scored, had amazing passing combinations, defended like a brick wall, and even took yellow and red cards with grace and composure.
We pray over your bodies and injuries, that they would rehab quickly. And most importantly, we pray over your hearts that might be hurting right now.
What a team. What a country.
Thank you 🙏
