Gypsy Gold Horse Farm Gypsy Gold Horse Farm The Gypsy Gold Farm is home to the first 16 registered horses of a breed that's now 5,000 animals strong.
(1207)

Our founders, the Thompsons, connected over a mutual love of animals, and thereafter discovered an unknown breed of horse, developed by British Gypsies, while traveling through the English countryside. After a four-year journey to understand these horses and the culture that created them, we took part in naming them: the Gypsy Vanner horse. Our 40 acre ranch is an educational and cultural oasis, where visitors to Central Florida learn about one of the most colorful and least understood societies on earth and the magical Vanner Horses they envisioned.

Gypsy Gold Farm Tours!
Gypsy Gold is open to the public for two tours a day, four days a week!
Pictured is VV King William by Carole Wiley.

Our Horses & History tour runs for two hours and provides an amazing overview of the Gypsy Vanner breed, plus the chance to tour the farm, and see and feed treats to many of the horses. This is an amazing tour for anyone, particularly if you have not visited Gypsy Gold previously.

Our Walking Tour is one hour from 1:30-2:30. This is a shorter tour with mostly the animal interaction portion, and often includes other animals in addition to our Vanners, such as our donkeys, goats and chickens. This tour is perfect for returning guests or guests with small children.

Both of our tour types run on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday and you can book directly on our site at www.gypsygold.com!

We do have a gift shop and you can also bring carrots to feed the horses if you like!

Meet Rascal! Rascal is an exceptional July 2024 Gypsy Vanner c**t with the pedigree, presence, and personality to stand out in any program.

He is a striking son of GG Latcho’s Mighty King and out of Belle-Reid's Bella Mia, bringing together some of the most influential foundation bloodlines in the breed. On his sire’s side, Mighty King is by Latcho Drom and carries the legacy of The Lion King. On his dam’s side, Bella Mia traces to The Gypsy King, Cushti Bok, and The Lottery Horse. This powerful combination of proven genetics comes together beautifully in Rascal.

Beyond his pedigree, Rascal is a kind, people-oriented c**t with a sweet disposition and excellent manners for his age. He enjoys attention, is appropriately handled, and shows a level-headed, confident nature that makes him a pleasure to be around. He is PSSM1 negative by parentage and is expected to mature around 14.2 hands.

With his outstanding bloodlines, solid build, and willing temperament, Rascal has all the qualities to excel as a future herd sire. He also shows strong potential for success in the show ring and under saddle.

Rascal’s future is incredibly bright—don’t miss the opportunity to add this special young c**t to your program. Contact Dennis at 352-817-1777 for more details!

Two of our blue and gold macaws Blue and Friday say hi!! Photo by our amazing volunteer Don Gouldsmith. We have some amazing parrots and Don does an amazing job taking care of them.

Here are a few fun facts about these guys!

• No Blue Pigment: Their bright blue feathers do not actually contain blue coloring. Instead, the microscopic structure of the feathers scatters light to create a blue appearance (a trick of physics called structural coloration).

• Fingerprint Faces: The bare white skin on their cheeks is patterned with tiny, distinct black feather lines that are unique to every single bird, much like a human fingerprint.

• Zygodactyl Feet: They have two toes pointing forward and two pointing backward, giving them a vice-like grip to climb branches and hold food. They also use their strong hooked beak like a "third foot" when climbing.

• Long Tails: Up to half of their total body length is made up of long, flowing tail feathers that act like a rudder or a parachute when landing.

This photo is a great memory from many years ago when Dennis took Latcho Drom and The Gypsy King for a photo shoot at the beach. Mark J. Barrett got some fantastic photos but this soft interaction between these two is one of our favorites. There is a special connection between Gypsy Vanners and their humans. The lighting on Latcho's magnificent mane is also amazing here. Latcho's lines are in almost every one of our breeding stock at this point!
