🐾 Advancing Veterinary Medicine, One Patient at a Time 🐾

At Airport Road Animal Clinic, we’re committed to providing the best care possible—not just for our patients today, but for pets in the future as well.

That’s why we proudly participate in veterinary clinical studies that help advance medical knowledge, improve treatment options, and shape the future of veterinary medicine. ❤️

One of our current studies is focused on Immune-Mediated Keratoconjunctivitis Sicca (KCS), commonly known as “Dry Eye.” This condition can cause discomfort, inflammation, and vision problems if left untreated.

Through studies like this, we have the opportunity to:
✔️ Contribute to the development of new therapies
✔️ Provide eligible patients access to innovative treatments
✔️ Help improve outcomes for pets everywhere
✔️ Continue bringing advanced medicine to our local community

If your dog has been diagnosed with dry eye or is showing signs such as redness, discharge, squinting, or excessive eye rubbing, they may qualify for a complimentary screening exam.

We’re proud to be part of the ongoing effort to advance veterinary technology and medicine while caring for the pets we love every day.

🐱 Summer Safety for Cats

Summer in Florida can be dangerous for our feline friends too — even the indoor ones.

Things cat owners should keep in mind:

☀️ Heat stress happens
Cats can overheat, especially in warm garages, lanais, enclosed spaces, or homes without reliable AC.

💧 Hydration matters
Cats are notorious for not drinking enough water. Extra hydration support in summer is always a good idea.

🦟 Mosquitoes = heartworm risk
Yes, cats can get heartworm too—even indoor cats.

🌿 Fleas thrive in Florida heat
One flea can quickly become a major problem (and itchy miserable cat).

🪟 Screen safety
Open windows are tempting, but damaged screens can lead to dangerous falls or escapes.

🌸 Toxic summer plants & flowers
Lilies, certain bouquets, and some outdoor plants can be extremely dangerous to cats.

🚗 Travel stress + heat
Never leave cats in vehicles, even briefly.

Because even our tiny house panthers need summer protection 🤍🐾

🌈 World Pet Memorial Day

Today, we honor the pets who are no longer by our side, but never far from our hearts.

The ones who greeted us at the door.
Curled up beside us on the hardest days.
Celebrated life’s happiest moments with us.
And loved us in the quiet, unconditional way only a pet can.

For so many of us, they were never “just a pet.”
They were family. Best friends. Constant companions. Pieces of our hearts.

At Airport Road Animal Clinic, it is one of life’s greatest privileges to care for these incredible animals through every chapter — from joyful puppy visits to the hardest goodbyes.

Today, we remember them 🤍

If you’re comfortable, we’d love for you to share a photo or the name of a beloved pet you’re remembering today in the comments 🕊️🐾

Leptospirosis risk assessment has changed significantly in recent years.

Once considered primarily a concern for large-breed or rural dogs, leptospirosis is now recognized across a much broader range of patients and environments — including small dogs and urban populations.

The 2022 AAHA Canine Vaccination Guidelines identify leptospirosis vaccination as a core recommendation for dogs, reflecting the evolving epidemiology of the disease and its zoonotic potential.

🌀 Hurricane Preparedness for Pet Owners

Hurricane season is here — and your pets need a plan too.

If a storm were approaching tomorrow, would you be ready?

Here’s your pet preparedness checklist:

✔ At least 2 weeks of medications & preventatives
✔ Food + bottled water for 7–14 days
✔ Leash, harness, carrier, litter box supplies
✔ Updated ID tags + microchip information
✔ Copies of vaccine records + medical history
✔ Comfort items (favorite blanket, toy, treats)
✔ A current photo of your pet

Important reminders:
🐾 Not all shelters accept pets
🐾 Boarding facilities fill quickly before storms
🐾 Last-minute medication refills can become difficult

At Airport Road Animal Clinic, we want your entire family — furry members included — prepared and protected this hurricane season 🤍

Need medication refills, vaccine updates, or microchip checks before storm season ramps up? We’re happy to help.
