Ali is the kind of Thoroughbred that makes you excited about the possibilities of a second career. With only three starts, Ali retired with clean legs and has spent the last 60 days being professionally restarted for his life beyond the racetrack. He has already made his schooling show debut, confidently stepping off property and earning 1st & 2nd over fences in the jumper ring among a competitive group of entries.
What really sets Ali apart is his natural balance and adjustability. He is brave to the fences, willing in his work, and remarkably athletic for such a green young horse. His balanced build, fluid gaits, and sporty jump give him the potential to develop into a very competitive hunter or jumper. While he has so issue with his current job in the jumper ring, eventing may not be in his best interest due to the anatomy of his throat. He is not a roarer nor has he had a throat operation, but would benefit from a tie back for eventing.
Ali isn’t necessarily the flashy color that catches your eye from across the field, he’s the horse you notice once you see him move. He has a striking presence and the kind of athletic, sporty quality that is becoming increasingly difficult to find at this price point. He is, however, a young and green Thoroughbred and will be best suited to an educated rider with young-horse experience. Ali was gelded earlier this year and is still learning how to navigate life as a gelding. Although he has been appropriate and non-studish around other horses, he can be playful and nippy and will benefit from confident, consistent handling. He is currently shod up front, I do believe he has good enough feet to go barefoot with a few months of light work while he adapts. We did have him barefoot temporarily but ultimately decided he would be more comfortable in front shoes while in a full program.
Having been owned and cared for by his breeder throughout his racing career, Ali has been exceptionally well cared for and is being offered only to a reputable home committed to developing his potential. And if his pedigree isn’t enough to make you take notice, his family has already proven itself in our program. In 2024, Ali’s brother “Mana Kai” came through our sales program and has gone on to find great success in the jumper ring. Ali has many of the same qualities that made us excited about his brother and we think this one has a bright future of his own.
