Appreciation post!
Let's face it: 43 years in the saddle, a licensed trainer myself since 1999, spent insane amounts of money training with world- and olympic champions,... and yet, show jumping was always my weak discipline. I was lucky if I made it over 1.15m without getting hurt, because I never got a solid foundation as a kid and certainly never had a very good horse either. I could only afford stubborn ponies and notorious stoppers. A year ago this week I met John Michael Durr who re-wired my German rider brain and pretty much made me do the opposite of everything I had done for decades. Never in my life would I have thought I was capable of doing the things I do now and actually ENJOY jumping the big, colorful sticks ๐ Coming back from another eye opening lesson this morning I can only say a) trainers need trainers too and b) you are never too old to start over. Big thank you to everyone involved ๐
