🚨 Important Feline Health Update & Community PSA

Our shelter is currently responding to confirmed cases of panleukopenia—a highly contagious and potentially fatal disease in cats. To protect the cats in our care and prevent further spread, we are temporarily closing our cat adoption area and making the following critical changes:

🐾 SNR Program Update
We can only accept SNR (Shelter-Neuter-Return) cats if they can be picked up the same day.
✔️ No overnight stays
✔️ Cats must arrive in traps only
✔️ Weekly trap rentals available—ask us how!

🚫 Please don’t "Kitnap"!
If you find kittens who appear healthy and are not in immediate danger, leave them where they are. Chances are, their mom is nearby and still caring for them. Removing them too early can actually reduce their chance of survival. Here is a great video to explain why: https://bit.ly/4kKcXev

⏳ Wait Till 8
Kittens should not enter the shelter before 8 weeks of age, unless absolutely necessary. If you find young kittens, consider fostering them at home until they are old enough to be sterilized. We’ll support you every step of the way.

🏠 Foster a Cat or Kitten – Short Term, Big Impact
Can’t commit long-term? That’s okay!
Just two weeks of fostering can give a cat time to receive its initial vaccine and booster, which dramatically reduces their risk of contracting panleukopenia.

🐱Thinking of rehoming your cat?
A shelter should be an absolute last resort. Take pictures, share your cat’s story; talk to friends, family, fellow parishioners, club members, coworkers, etc. Use social media, and websites such as rehome.adoptapet.com and Nextdoor.com.

If our shelter becomes the only option, contact us to schedule the initial vaccine and booster prior to arrival.
