Take a look at this cute little baby. 🥹

He’s about 10 weeks old and, thanks to an amazing foster, he is officially out of the shelter and safe. His foster will even get the honor of naming him. ❤️

Because a 10-week-old puppy does NOT belong in a shelter.

But really… NO DOG belongs there.

Thankfully, we had a foster who could take a puppy.

Thankfully, people want to adopt puppies.

And that’s where the story gets harder.

There are currently 7 adult dogs scheduled for euthanasia.

Three of the dogs who were originally scheduled haven’t been euthanized yet because of scheduling issues. That means they still have a chance.

But now there are 4 more dogs on the list.

Why?

Because people aren’t adopting adult dogs.

Because these dogs have experienced life. And sometimes that life has left them with challenges.

Because people want the easy dog.

Because people are hesitant to foster a dog who may need patience, structure, training, decompression, or simply time to learn that life can be good.

But here’s the thing:

These dogs are still worth saving.

They are still loving.
They are still deserving.
They still have so much life left to live.

And we can still save them.

But we need people willing to step up.

We need committed fosters.
We need adopters.
And we have a foster-to-adopt option (you foster until completion of all medical, then complete the adoption. This allows them to start bonding with you and adjusting to your householdimmediately).

You don't have to be perfect.

You don't have to know everything.

You just have to be willing to give a dog a chance.

A puppy shouldn't have to be the easiest dog to save.

And an adult dog shouldn't have to be the hardest dog to lose.

Seven dogs are waiting.

Who is willing? 🐾

🚨 OFFICIAL PUPPY CRIME REPORT 🚨
Case #7-HOOLIGANS-2026

Suspects: 7 puppies
Charges:
• Conspiracy to escape confinement
• Organized jailbreak
• Property damage
• Trespassing
• Excessive p**ping
• Destruction of a laundry room
• Possibly plotting against their foster mother

These puppies look sweet and innocent, don’t they?

Let me be very clear:

They ARE sweet.

Innocent?

Absolutely not.

You see, I have an extremely busy rescue weekend coming up. Five meet-and-greets, four of them involving these tiny criminals. So I decided my husband—the poor man who continues to put up with the insanity I call my life—deserved a nice dinner.

Just the two of us.

A little break. A chance to enjoy a meal without puppy chaos.

Before we left, everyone had been run, fed, pottied, and safely tucked away in their respective enclosures.

Everything was secure.

Or so we thought.

Because apparently, these seven masterminds decided that confinement was unacceptable.

Investigators believe the suspects worked together to dislodge their enclosure and execute a coordinated jailbreak.

And when we returned home…

Oh.

OH.

I went to let the little criminals outside to potty, only to discover that the laundry room had been transformed into what can only be described as a puppy p**p festival.

💩💩💩💩💩💩💩

There was evidence everywhere.

The crime scene was extensive.

The suspects showed absolutely no remorse.

Now, I will give them credit where credit is due.

Their actual pen was clean.

They HAVE learned that p**p belongs outside.

Apparently, they just haven't learned that the laundry room is not outside.

So while their enclosure remained pristine, the surrounding area looked like seven puppies had collectively decided to express their displeasure with my evening plans.

And honestly?

I think I know what happened.

I think they were mad.

Mad that I went to dinner.

Mad that they weren't invited.

And mad enough to leave me a very special “welcome home” present.

Case remains open.

The suspects are currently in custody.

They have been released on their own recognizance pending further potty training.

No charges have been dropped.

😂🐶💩🚨

UPDATE: They are still cute. They are still sweet. And they are absolutely, positively, NOT INNOCENT.

There are still 2 available for adoption. Ginger and Clark.

Part of keeping a close eye on puppies is making sure they get regular spa days. 🛁🐾

Baths. Weigh-ins. Mani-pedis. All the important puppy maintenance. And, of course, smelling like Kiwi Blossom when it’s all said and done. 😂🌸

The humans seem to appreciate spa day quite a bit more than the puppies do.

There were some serious negotiations. A few dramatic looks. And more than one puppy wondering why we couldn’t just leave well enough alone. 🤣

But clean, healthy, freshly trimmed little toes are worth it!

Now, if only they appreciated our efforts as much as we do… ❤️🐶

Partnership Matters ❤️🐾

Today, we had the opportunity to partner with Stafford Creek Corrections Center for a fun family day for their staff and families.

Our Timber Tails team — along with our incredible community partners at All Fur Them and FURgent Care Unit, who support the Freedom Tails program — got to be part of the day and share what these programs are all about.

Freedom Tails and Timber Tails share the same mission: rescuing dogs, giving them a second chance, and bettering our community in the process. Today was another wonderful example of what can happen when we come together.

Lots of people got to learn more about the program, meet some amazing dogs, and see firsthand what these partnerships can accomplish.

🐾 Chappy and Koira both had meet-and-greets today — and the best part? They will both have new homes waiting for them when they complete their programs!

🎓 And Frankie graduated! Tomorrow, he heads off to his new home and the next chapter of his life.

My body may not be thrilled about the six miles of walking dogs back and forth today 😂, but our hearts are absolutely full.

We are so grateful for the opportunity to share this program with so many people and to continue building partnerships that make a difference — for people, for dogs, and for our community.

Partnership matters. And today was a pretty great reminder of why. ❤️🐾

Three shelter dogs couldn’t be saved this week.

That call still hurts.

Three dogs who never got the chance. Three lives lost—not because they weren’t worthy, but because resources are limited.

And that’s why we need you.

Rescues everywhere are desperately looking for fosters and volunteers. We are no exception.

We need fosters who can open their homes and help our dogs prepare for the lives they deserve.

But we also need volunteers with all kinds of skills:

🐾 Walk dogs
🚗 Transport dogs to and from spay/neuter appointments
🧹 Help with cleaning and daily care
📱 Help with social media
❤️ Help with events and adoption efforts
…and so much more.

It takes a LOT of people—and a lot of different talents—coming together to save dogs.

Our primary goal is to pull dogs from shelters and prevent them from being euthanized.

This week, we had to say no.

And we don’t want to have to say no again.

There are a million reasons people tell themselves they can’t foster. And we understand. Fostering isn’t always easy. Rescue isn’t always easy.

But when we think about the three dogs we couldn’t save, one question keeps coming back:

Which of those reasons mattered to them?

And what about the next dog sitting in a shelter, waiting for someone to say yes?

We aren’t going to tell you fostering will be easy. It isn’t. There will be challenges, messes, heartbreak, and days when you wonder if you’re really making a difference.

But you won’t be doing it alone.

We are a team. Our new Foster Coordinator is dedicated to supporting our fosters, helping them succeed, and being there through the ups and downs.

You don’t have to know everything. You don’t have to be an expert. You just have to be willing to help.

Please.

Help us not have to say no to our local shelters.

Help us make room.

Help us save the next dog.

Foster. Volunteer. Share this post. Tell a friend.

Whatever you can do—please do something.

Because for the next dog, it could mean everything. ❤️

I don’t have to say it. You all hear it already. But I am going to say it anyway.

Rescue is HARD. ❤️🐾

But let’s bring this one home just a little bit. And, at the same time, bring a little joy to your feed.

You see, yesterday was another one of those days.

The kind of day where I carry the weight of decisions that no one should have to make.

Because, Grays Harbor… you lost three more dogs to euthanasia.

Not because they weren’t worthy.
Not because they didn’t deserve a chance.

But because resources are limited.

And while we see hundreds of people screaming that dogs need help, only a handful actually step forward and say, “I’ll help.”

Then the day ended, and it was time to go home and take care of puppies.

Seven little lives that came to us absolutely filled with worms and parasites. Puppies we are watching closely, checking every symptom, weighing them, monitoring their temperatures, doing everything we can to catch problems before they become emergencies.

And then…

**A Parvo test came back positive.**

My heart sank.

A quick call to another board member with LOTS of medical knowledge. While she was on her way to help, the house and runs were disinfected **AGAIN.**

All seven puppies weighed.
Temperatures taken.
Parvo tests done.
Fluids given, just to be safe.

The one symptom we were seeing could also be explained by the massive parasite burden these babies are fighting. But when you do rescue, you don't take chances.

You worry.
You watch.
You prepare for the worst.
You pray for the best.

And then came morning.

**Seven bouncing puppies.**

Seven little bodies with more energy than we've seen since they arrived.

The very faint positive test is likely a false positive related to their recent vaccinations, but we aren't letting our guard down. They are still being closely monitored.

And then there is **Ginger.** 🥰

Showing us exactly how wonderful she feels and reminding us that sometimes, in the middle of all the hard, there is still **JOY.**

So yes…

There are late nights.
There are heartbreaking decisions.
There is guilt.
There is sadness.
There are dogs we couldn't save.

But there are also **Gingers.**

There are seven little puppies bouncing around like they own the place.

There are moments that make you laugh when you thought you couldn't.

And there are tiny, wiggly reminders of why we keep going.

So today, we're going to take a breath.

We're going to celebrate this little bit of good.

We're going to watch Ginger show off.

And tomorrow…

We'll rescue it hard again. Because if stop, who will be there? ❤️🐾

YOU can help! YOU can be "the someone" to do something.
We need fosters AND VOLUNTEERS! Just because you can't foster doesn't mean you can't help.

Meet the Matlock Litter! 🐾❤️

I was finally able to get all four of their names, and these big babies are getting ready for their next chapter!

Furgus (M)
Shiloh (M)

They aren't exactly “Last Sprouts” because their mama was tragically killed after being hit by a car when they were still young.

Originally, there were 11 puppies. Some found homes, but others did not, and eventually their owner could no longer manage the growing litter. That’s how these pups ended up needing us.

Now, at 7 months old and already weighing more than 60 pounds EACH, it’s hard to even look at them and think “puppy.” These are going to be BIG dogs! 😳

Their mama was a Lab/Catahoula/Bullmastiff mix, and their dad was a Golden Retriever. And somehow, they seem to have inherited the best part of every breed—especially those huge, loving hearts. ❤️

These four are affectionate, loving, eager to please, and incredibly smart. Their Freedom Tails handlers are working with them on all the foundations they need to become wonderful family dogs.

And with dogs who are going to be this big, those skills are SO important! 😂

The good news? One of our girls already has an adopter! Her adopter will be meeting with us next week to make the final decision about which girl is the best fit.

But three more amazing pups are still looking for their people.
