Cats are often described as solitary animals, but feline relationships are more complicated than that.

Cats are socially flexible. Some are perfectly content living without another cat, while others form close relationships with feline companions. You might see bonded cats sleeping together, grooming one another, playing, or simply choosing to spend time close to each other.

That doesn't mean two unfamiliar cats will automatically become friends.

When introducing a new cat, moving slowly is important. Each cat needs time and space to become comfortable without feeling trapped or threatened.

Resources matter too. Food and water stations, litter boxes, resting spots, hiding places, and elevated spaces should be plentiful and distributed throughout the home so cats don't have to compete for access.

The goal isn't to make every cat become best friends. It's to create an environment where each cat feels secure enough to choose how much interaction they want.

Some cats prefer their independence. Others find a lifelong feline friend. 🐾

Autumn doesn't only change the trees. It can change some of your pet's everyday needs too. 🍂
