In an effort to mitigate interactions with wildlife and maintain the safety of our visitors, we will postpone the opening of the lake for another 30 days. We have been in a territorial dispute with local beavers 🦫 for approximately 4 years now. We were here first and refuse to leave. On May 1st of this year the war ended with the eradication of the opposing side and their descendants. We’re fully confident no more remain but as a precautionary measure, we will monitor signs of their possible activity and return.

Other species of wildlife, such as snakes 🐍, raccoon 🦝 and armadillo , will constantly be near the lake. On May 9th we had a team come test their fishing skills and to see exactly what could be caught. The largest fish caught was an 8-inch large mouth bass. Along the bank of the lake was a lurking monster. “Pictured in comments.” May is mating season for many snakes.

Additionally, on yesterday we sighted a bobcat 🐈 approximately 250 yards from the lake. NO WEAPONS ARE ALLOWED on the property other than those carried by our security team or specifically authorized by Big Red’s Family Farm.

May 9th - “Mother’s Day Appreciation” 🌹
SATURDAY from 1600 to 1800 bring your Mothers, Grandmothers, Madeas, Nannas, Big Mommas, Memaws, Aunties, Teetees, Sisters, Cousins, Baby Mommas and tissues…. Each “Special Guest” will be individually serenaded and appreciated so each family can publicly express what their Mothers mean to them. You can sing a song, recite a poem or simply just talk about some the most memorable moments growing up. So before you take Mom out to dinner (because everywhere on Sunday will be an hour wait), bring her to the farm and shower her with gifts in front of the world. You’re only given one so cherish her while you can. This will be live streamed!!!

May 16th - “2nd Annual Nerf Gun War”
We had such a great turn out last year. We definitely wanted to add this as an annual event. The last time the parents lost but let’s see if they can redeem themselves…. 😂

May 23rd - 4-Wheeler Drag Racing Series 🏍
This is still on the table. We currently don’t receive enough in donations to cover the additional event insurance premiums. More details to follow as we get closer to opening day.

(Cook Off Presentation 1700) - Random children will be selected as judges. Winning Father will have Fayette County bragging rights as the “ #1 Grill Daddy” until next year’s competition.

Most families have neighbors competing to see who can out do the other within the neighborhood. We will group each neighborhood together and hash this out!!!!
Let’s see if the Garden of Hidden Springs can hold their title from last year.

The football field will be cleared of all children.
Group #3 - 9 to 12 years old will have 1 minute to gather as many eggs as possible.
Group #4 - 13 to 17 years olds will then be unleashed.

May 5th - “Cinco de Mayo Celebration”

It was where families gathered, first dates blossomed and memories lived under the stars. But now, after nearly six decades of movie magic, the beloved theater is closing its gates for good.
