Palo Alto Professional Cat Sitter visits begin with one important choice: how much space your cat wants.
For Specialist Summer, we are highlighting individualized care. Some cats welcome a gentle hello right away. Others feel safest watching from across the room first. Respecting that preferred greeting distance helps reduce stress and gives each cat more control.
Arrival-distance checklist:
☐ Enter calmly and pause to observe body language.
☐ Begin at your cat’s chosen distance, not ours.
☐ Turn slightly sideways and keep hands relaxed.
☐ Use a soft voice and avoid prolonged eye contact.
☐ Let your cat decide whether to come closer.
☐ Never corner, chase, or force contact.
☐ Record what worked so the next visit can feel familiar.
A calm pause is not ignoring a cat. It is an invitation to feel safe. Our experienced caregivers tailor every visit to the individual cat, including shy and recovering cats.
