Animal Care League serves as the stray holding facility for Oak Park, River Forest, Forest Park, North Riverside, Northlake, Elmwood Park, Melrose Park, River Grove, and Riverside. The many faces of Phineas.... We talked to him this morning and asked him a bit more about how he describes himself and what he's looking for in a family.

ACL: How would you describe yourself?
Phineas: I'm a pretty cool guy. I'm a big snuggle bug too. Wait you're not going to tell people that are you? I have a cool dog reputation to maintain.

ACL: We're just going to tell a few people. What kind of home are you looking for?

Phineas: I would like to live with adults only. Oh and no cats.... If my roommate liked to sit with me and give me great food and play with me, that would be my perfect life.
ACL: Ours too.

Phineas: Are you trying to find me roommate? Is it something I said?
ACL: No, but a great dog like you needs a home or roommate...whatever you want to call them. ;)

Phineas: Yeah, a family of my own would be the best thing that ever happened to me. The shelter life gets lonely. All the best people should come meet me at Animal Care League!

ACL: We agree!

It's National Vet Tech Week and we want to take a moment to recognize our team. Our medical team provides care for well over 1,000 shelter animals each year, sees animals at our public low cost clinic and provides care to our team's pets. This group of people are truly lifesavers and go above and beyond each and every day. They are behind-the-scenes, saving lives and providing hope. We've been informed that the village will be performing maintenance on Garfield Street this weekend, and that street parking will be prohibited out in front of our adoption center! If you are attending, please plan to find parking on the side streets surrounding the shelter.

Our annual walk and festival is only three days away! Remember, even if you didn't register to walk with us, the festival is free and open to everyone! Bring your dog and have a good time!
