✨ Meet Emely ✨

Emely has been part of the Oak Park Animal Hospital family since 2025, bringing a steady, welcoming presence to both our front desk and patient care team. 🐾

She enjoys meeting pets of all shapes, sizes, and personalities and has a way of helping both pets and their families feel comfortable and supported. As one of our Spanish-speaking team members, Emely also helps us better connect with and care for more families in our community. 💙

At home, Emely has quite the crew! She shares her life with Bella and Simba, her Chihuahua mixes, along with her rabbits, Benito Chipmunk and Horchata Latte. 🐶🐰

Outside of the hospital, Emely loves exploring cafés around the city ☕ and has a pretty sweet goal for the future. She hopes to one day open her own dog bakery! 🧁🐶

We’re so happy to have Emely as part of the OPAH family!

This kitten looked completely normal but his ears told a different story! 👀🔬

When we examined a sample under the microscope, we found a large number of ear mites moving around. 🦠 Signs can include frequent ear scratching, head shaking, dark “coffee-ground” debris, redness, irritation, or scabs around the ears. Some pets may show very few signs at all!

Ear mites are highly contagious between pets, but they don’t typically infest humans. If one pet is diagnosed, other pets in the household may need to be checked too.

Dark ear debris can also be caused by yeast or bacteria, so an examination is important to identify the correct cause and treatment. If you notice anything unusual in your pet’s ears, give us a call! 🐱🐶🩺

Think pet massage is just for relaxation? 👀🐾 There’s so much more to it!

Therapeutic massage with Debby Barron, Certified Canine Massage Therapist, can support pets through many stages of life, from puppies learning to feel comfortable with handling to seniors dealing with arthritis and stiffness. ❤️

Massage may also support pets experiencing muscle or joint discomfort, decreased mobility, anxiety or touch sensitivity, recovery after injury or surgery, and even active pets participating in sports or agility.

💡 And massage therapy can also be paired with laser therapy! When appropriate for your pet, combining these supportive therapies can be a great addition to a treatment plan focused on comfort, mobility, and recovery.

✨ Meet Erik Paulius ✨

Erik has been part of the Oak Park Animal Hospital family since 2025. As a Veterinary Assistant, he values the opportunity to provide personalized care to each patient and appreciates the supportive, team-oriented environment at OPAH. 🐾

Erik earned his degree in Statistics from the University of Illinois in 2023 and is currently completing his core science coursework with plans to apply to veterinary school. 🩺📚

At home, Erik shares his life with his long-haired cat, Erwin. Outside of the hospital, he plays bass guitar in a band and enjoys video games and underground music. 🎸🐈

We’re excited to see where Erik’s journey in veterinary medicine takes him and are happy to have him as part of the OPAH family!
