If you’re leaving your pet home alone while at work or going on vacation, try tiring them out before you leave so that they are content and not too anxious when the pet sitter arrives.

Did you know that most pets experience stress when their owners go away? By hiring a pet sitter and allowing your pet to stay home while you are gone can significantly reduce this level of stress and make the whole situation much easier for your pet.

Socialized dogs that play well with other pets are happy and confident. The best time to socialize is during the puppy stages, and a pet day care facility is a great place for supervised safe socialization activities for young pups.

Is your dog or cat on a special diet or taking medications? That can be difficult to handle when you are out of town, but pet sitters are experienced with giving pets medications, as well as providing walks and play time.

Did you know that break-ins are more likely when it looks like you're away? Not only can a pet sitter take care of your pet's needs, but they can also make your home look less vacant to would-be robbers.

Dogs and cats also can become depressed if left alone for long periods of time, according to the Humane Society. The pet may engage in destructive behavior and often won't eat.

One of the benefits of professional pet sitting is that the care is tailored and customized specifically to your pet’s needs. This includes keeping routines the same, including playtimes, sleep, exercise, and feedings.

Leave instructions on which vet to take your pet to in case they become ill, how much money you authorize to be spent on your pet’s behalf, and contact names of people that can make decisions if you are unable to be reached.

If your pet hasn’t spent much time around other animals, be sure to mention this when dropping them off at pet day care. This will let day care staff know to pay special attention to your pet’s interactions with others as they adjust to making new friends.
