Pea Pufferfish are tiny freshwater fish with big personalities! These curious little hunters enjoy a planted aquarium, meaty foods, and plenty of hiding spots. They can be territorial and may snack on small snails and shrimp.

Red-Eyed Red-Tail Puffer (Carinotetraodon irrubesco)

A small freshwater puffer from Indonesia with striking red eyes and plenty of personality. Mature males develop a red tail; females have more patterned bodies and less colorful tails.

* Adult size: Around 2 inches.
* Water: Fully freshwater—no aquarium salt needed.
* Temperature: 72–80°F is a practical target.
* pH: 6.0–7.5.
* Setup: A mature, heavily planted aquarium with hiding places and gentle flow. I’d choose a 20-gallon tank for one.
* Food: Small snails, frozen bloodworms, brine shrimp, and chopped shellfish. Offer variety; avoid relying on flakes.
