Update: Adopted! 🥳

Meet Baxter!😍

This little guy is 2 years old and 36 lbs of perfection. He's a great listener, and he's as sweet as he is fluffy. Baxter has mastered the art of leashed walks, he loves other dogs, and he's ready to go home! 💯

Meet Baxter at our Edwardsville shelter today during walk-in adoption hours! We're open 11:30-5, Wednesday through Sunday, and we'd love to introduce you to this little angel. Baxter is neutered, microchipped and up to date on all vaccines. 🏡💙💚🧡

Head to mehs.org/adopt for more information, or email [email protected] with any questions. The best way to get them answered is by stopping in and speaking with our adoption team, though!🐾

Oh sweet Penny really needs a soft spot to land.

Meet Penny!

This sweet girl isn’t even a year old and was recently found running loose in Caseyville. Thankfully, we caught her quickly, especially since she’s in heat, preventing a potential pregnancy.

We believe Penny is a Collie mix. She has the softest coat, the sweetest personality, and does great with dogs, cats, and kids!

Unfortunately, Penny is terrified in the shelter and is so stressed she’s not even eating.

She desperately needs a foster, or even better, an adopter!

Please fill out an application ASAP so we can get this sweet girl into a home where she belongs!

Someone needs to give Chance a chance!!

Will someone please give the sweet boy a chance in a home to either Foster, adopt, or even a slumber party? We would love to learn more about Chance and he’s been waiting a long time for his turn. How could you pass up this adorable face? Chance has a bundle of energy, but he loves to play fetch. He knows many tricks and he is very smart. Please fill out an application if you’re interested in fostering adopting or even a slumber party.

Do you have the heart to give Scarlet a home?

Update- she is in a foster to adopt home 💜💜

Scarlet is breaking our hearts, and she desperately needs out of the shelter. 💔

Scarlet came to us with her buddy Rhett after they were found running as strays in Belleville. She hasn’t been with us long, but she is already struggling terribly.

Scarlet spins nonstop in her kennel, to the point that the pads on her paws are bleeding. It is absolutely heartbreaking to watch.

Some dogs handle shelter life better than others, and Scarlet is NOT one of them. The stress is taking a serious toll on her.

Scarlet is a beautiful gray pittie with what looks like a little Basset Hound mixed in. She is selective with other dogs, which makes finding her a home a little harder. She does well with Rhett, and while we would love to see them adopted together, it is not required.

Look at this picture. This is Scarlet peacefully resting in our little yard. But put her back in her kennel, and the nonstop spinning begins again.

This girl needs a break. No dog deserves to live in this kind of mental distress.

Please consider fostering, taking her on a slumber party, or giving her the forever home she deserves.

Scarlet needs someone. Please fill out an application if you can help. 💔
