Grimm is a 9-month-old Saint Bernard exhibiting fear-based behaviors. Being inexperienced and unsocialized, he is prone to guarding and is in urgent need of our assistance. If his decline continues he will likely start to bite. All we have to do is separate Grimm from his owner, then change the tools, training and philosophy of communication with the dog. Voilà! Instant progress. Go Grimm!

Foundation work with Hans Solo GSD. I know a superstar when I see one and this young man is a superstar! He is well adjusted and confident with healthy drive. We have accelerated his emotional development with our pack work. The sky is the limit. Go Hans!

4 year old, 100 lb,Tito Beauceron exhibits fear-based behavior, insecurity, overattachment, and underfulfillment. We know what that leads to! Yes, he guards his owner, will bite and is dog aggressive with the owner. We are unwinding it all and removed his muzzle within 10 minutes. That’s not a dog issue. That’s a relationship issue! Go Tito!!

Hans Solo GSD is in the house and he couldn’t be any more different from his brother Otto Graham. Hans is a more confident, less sensitive, less reactive dog. While still inexperienced we can fix that. Go Hans!

Littermate syndrome is real and it’s behavioural not genetic. It a behavioural condition that can happen with any two young dogs that are raised together. Instead of bonding with their human family the puppies form an unhealthy codependent attachment to each other instead resulting in extreme separation anxiety, fear of new environments, and a lack of basic training. It’s often characterized by hyper attachment, mutual fear and anxiety, stunted socialization and aggression. Dogs with this condition have been known to kill each other. 12 week old Hans and Otto are from the same Working Drive German Shepherd litter and are showing early signs of this syndrome. We can often “fix” it by intervening early, separating everything, one on one training, individual socialization and controlled playtime. We started with 12 week Otto GSD whose fear reactivity is more extreme. We will see Hans next week. Our hope is to reunite them and we will show it all to you here. Go Otto!

Bacon is an out of his mind, quintessential, seven month old chocolate lab. He is high energy and high drive but has a soft sensitive side and is fearless. He’s been overwhelming his owners with pulling, jumping, strong Prey Drive and general mayhem. So why is he so calm now? Because we flooded his high prey drive and energy level with pack play for two straight days first which creates a whole new baseline. Now he can focus and learn. Go Bacon!

We have seen this before! A five year-old 15 pound doodle mix that’s a living terror! He is over-loved, under Lead and will bite. On just his second exposure we have a miracle! Go Teddy!

Zeus German Shepherd‘s first time back since his training and oh what a difference! He is happy, well adjusted, and well trained. The satisfaction that comes with a rehabilitation like this is immense. It’s not a cure. It’s a way to fulfill and manage his drive. Handsome boy! Go Zeus!!

Sylvie is a one year-old Australian Shepherd, Bluuetick Coonhound. The owners have had her since 12 weeks old. Due to recent lifestyle changes Sylvie has declined into aggressively resource guarding her food and water. The family is now afraid of their own dog. Instead of “punishing” the behavior out as many trainers would try, we focus on balancing her drive with fulfillment first. By flooding her prey drive with pack play we can create a whole new equilibrium. The idea is it’s unethical to punish a behavior out of a dog when the behavior is from frustration or under fulfillment. Instead, we safely balance the drive creating a new baseline. Now we have a more realistic starting point. That’s just what we did here. After a week of pack play, we can focus on performance in exchange for it. It’s not a cure. It’s a way to fulfill and manage her drive. Go Sylvie!
