This National Veterinary Technician Week, we're celebrating the incredible Associates who make our hospitals thrive — like Karen, who began as a CSR and never stopped growing and like Joanne, who sought mentorship and support to obtain her VTNE.

At VCA, we're proud to champion our veterinary technicians every step of the way — offering mentorship, encouragement, and the resources to help you reach your full potential.

To every vet tech in our VCA family: thank you. What you do matters deeply — to our teams, to our patients, and to the pet owners who trust us with their most beloved companions.

Every surgery starts long before the first incision. It starts with a veterinary technician who has spent years mastering their skills, anticipating needs, monitoring vitals, and showing up fully prepared for every patient who comes through the door.

Vet techs are the heart of every OR team, and their skill and dedication make a difference every single day. At some VCA specialty hospitals, we take surgical collaboration even further. Some of our teams include Certified Surgical Technologists (CSTs) — professionals who earned specialized degrees specifically to support surgeons in the OR.

The result? Less time under anesthesia. Better outcomes. And a team that truly works as one. 💙

Because every patient is somebody's pet — and they deserve nothing less than the best.

Today, we remember the thousands of lives affected by September 11, 2001, and we honor the courageous canines who served alongside their handlers during the search and rescue efforts.

These extraordinary dogs worked tirelessly through unimaginable conditions, searching through the rubble, locating survivors, and providing comfort to those who were grieving. Their strength, bravery, and unwavering devotion remind us of the incredible bond between humans and animals.

At VCA Old Tappan Veterinary Hospital, we are especially grateful for the canine heroes who gave their all in service to others. Their paw prints are forever part of our history and our hearts.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget.

Back-to-school season means new schedules, earlier mornings, and a whole lot of adjusting—for us and our pets. 🐾

If your pet is used to everyone being home, a sudden change in routine can sometimes bring extra stress or anxiety. A few simple steps can help make the transition easier:

🐶 Start adjusting their schedule gradually before school starts.
🐱 Practice short periods of alone time so the change doesn’t feel so sudden.
🦴 Keep meals, walks, playtime, and bedtime as consistent as possible.
🧸 Create a cozy, familiar space where they can relax while the house is quiet.
💛 Give them plenty of enrichment, exercise, and one-on-one attention when you are home.

Remember: big changes can take time. Be patient, watch for signs of stress, and celebrate the small wins.

We are here to help. Call us at 201-750-1800 or schedule an appointment on you myVCA app. There are many different ways our staff and veterinarians can help your pet adjust to their new schedule and make it easier for you!
