A lot of recall problems don't start with the word "come."

They start with everything happening around your dog.

More smells.

More people.

More dogs.

More distractions.

That's why a dog can come running to you in the house...

and suddenly struggle outside.

That doesn't mean your dog is stubborn.

It doesn't mean they forgot.

It means the environment got harder.

Reliable recall isn't about yelling louder.

It's about teaching your dog how to choose you when real life gets distracting.

That's exactly what I'll be teaching in my Online Recall Workshop.

If your dog comes great at home but struggles outside, you're not alone.

👇🏾 Tell me honestly:

What's your biggest recall challenge right now?

🐿 Squirrels
🐕 Other dogs
🚶 People
🚗 Running off
🤷🏾‍♀️ Something else

A lot of owners tell me:

"He comes every single time at home."

Then they get outside and suddenly it's like their dog has never heard the word before.

That doesn't mean your dog is stubborn.

And it doesn't mean your training failed.

Outside brings:

• smells

• movement

• dogs

• people

• excitement

For many dogs, that's a completely different experience than practicing in the living room.

A dog who comes beautifully at home may still struggle outside.

Not because they're bad.

Not because they're ignoring you.

Because the environment matters.

👇🏾 Tell me honestly...

Where does your dog struggle most?

🏡 Home

🚶 Walks

🌳 Parks

🐕 Around other dogs

A lot of dogs come perfectly inside the house…
then suddenly act like their owners don’t exist outside.

That usually isn’t stubbornness.

Outside changes behavior FAST.

Smells. Movement. Dogs. People. Noise.

A lot of dogs lose access to recall because the environment becomes more valuable than the owner in that moment.

That’s why yelling “COME” louder usually doesn’t fix it

Reliable recall starts BEFORE major distractions.

I’m teaching a live online recall workshop
June 4th at 7 PM EST where I’ll break down:

• why recall falls apart outside
• how owners accidentally weaken cues
• what to do BEFORE your dog ignores you
• how to build recall step by step in real life

Comment ONLINE and I’ll send the details.

A lot of dogs struggle more during Memorial Day weekend than people realize..

More people.

More noise.

More food.

More doors opening.

More excitement.

That can feel VERY overwhelming for a lot of dogs.

And honestly?

A lot of owners think:
“We need more obedience.”

But many dogs actually need:

• more structure
• more breaks
• less chaos
• calmer setups

Management matters.

Trying to train a flooded dog in the middle of a loud holiday weekend usually doesn’t go the way people hope.

A calmer dog makes better choices.

A lot of dogs struggle more around kids during holidays, parties, and busy family weekends...

That doesn’t automatically mean your dog is aggressive...here's why👇🏾

Fast movement.
Noise.
Running.
Squealing.
Unpredictability.

That can overwhelm a dog’s nervous system VERY quickly.

And once dogs feel overloaded, behavior usually gets harder.

A lot of good dogs struggle in busy environments ❤️

That’s why setup matters so much:
😊breaks
😊distance
😊calmer greetings
😊safe spaces
😊less pressure

A calmer dog usually makes better choices.

That doesn’t automatically mean your dog is bad ❤️

More people.
More noise.
More excitement.

A lot of dogs are simply overwhelmed.

This week, focus less on perfect behavior.....

And more on helping your dog feel calmer and more successful 😊

Honestly, I see a lot of good dogs get overwhelmed during busy weekends.

Sometimes families think:

• lower expectations

🚨 POSSIBLE LOST DOG 🚨

I may have seen a loose dog today around 2:40 PM (Friday 5/15) near the Standish Drive / Union Street area in Norwood.

🐶 Small dog around 10 lbs
🐶 Looked similar to a Jack Russell mix
🐶 Mostly black (possibly some white/brown)
🐶 Wearing a blue collar with tags

I first saw him coming down Standish Drive while I was walking from Union Street toward Standish.

He eventually ran into one of the backyards in the 200–220 area of Union Street.

When I called to him, he seemed like he may have come over, but I was working with a large dog at the time, so I’m not sure if that stopped him from approaching.

I followed him as far as I could but eventually lost sight of him in the backyard area.
I also drove back through again around 3:11 PM to check for him but did not see him again.

Please check:

✅ yards
✅ under porches/decks
✅ bushes/hiding spots

And please make sure your dogs are accounted for ❤️

Please share.

A lot of dogs struggle more outside than people realize 😊👇🏾

More smells.
More movement.
More distractions.

That doesn’t mean your dog is stubborn.

Sometimes we’re asking for big focus while offering rewards our dogs don’t actually care about in that moment.

After working with dogs and overwhelmed families for years, I can tell you this is WAY more common than people think ❤️

A lot of good dogs struggle outside.

That doesn’t mean you failed.

Comment RECALL and I’ll send you the same guide I use with families to help build a more reliable recall 😊
