Today’s featured patient is ROCK, our splenectomy patient last week. Rock was all love and affection during his stay, you would have never guessed this poor baby was carrying a 10 lb splenic tumor. Splenic tumors in dogs can be quite serious and are often discovered during routine check-ups or when symptoms arise. Splenectomy (the surgical removal of the spleen) is the most common treatment for splenic tumors. This can help alleviate symptoms and prolong life. Rock’s successful splenectomy is a hopeful reminder of the importance of veterinary care and monitoring for our furry friends. It was a privilege to be part of Rock’s veterinary care.

Keiki sure knows how to keep things exciting. Things went from a close call to a heroic recovery for this curious poodle 🐩! Today we are happy to report she is doing well after exploratory surgery to remove a replacement razor blade she ingested, and luckily did not sustain any gastrointestinal damage. Dogs are curious creatures by nature and just like babies, they tend to put just about anything in their mouth. Wishing Keiki a speedy recovery!

Foxtails can pose significant dangers to dogs, particularly when they become lodged in their ears. These grass seed awns can easily pe*****te the skin and travel through soft tissues, leading to various health issues like infections, inflammation, and damage to the eardrum or ear canal. Foxtails can also migrate to other areas of the body and cause further complications. Regularly checking your dog’s ears, especially after walks in grassy or wooded areas, can help prevent these issues.

On today’s episode of *Pets Eat the Darnest Things*, Brady was in for his post-op check after his emergency surgery to remove a sock he couldn’t resist snacking on! Dogs can be very curious and often eat things that can cause a dangerous blockage. If you suspect your dog ate something it shouldn’t have consult your veterinarian right away as these conditions can be life threatening. We are happy to report Brady is doing fantastic!
