๐ถ BRINGING HOME A NEW PUPPY? DON'T GIVE THEM THE WHOLE HOUSE!
One of the easiest mistakes to make with a new puppy is giving them too much freedom too soon.
Your puppy doesn't need to explore the entire house on the first day.
Start small.
๐พ Use a puppy pen.
๐พ Use baby gates and closed doors.
๐พ Keep your puppy where you can supervise them.
๐พ Have the crate nearby for quiet time and naps.
๐พ Keep toys and appropriate things to chew within easy reach.
๐พ Take your puppy to their potty area on a regular schedule.
As your puppy learns the rules of your home and becomes more reliable, you can gradually give them more freedom.
Too much freedom too soon can lead to potty accidents, chewing, puppy biting and behaviors you don't want your puppy practicing.
A smaller, well-managed area also makes it much easier for you to notice when your puppy needs to potty, needs a nap, or is getting into something they shouldn't.
Your puppy has plenty of time to explore the rest of the house.
Start small. Supervise. Teach good habits. Then gradually increase freedom. โค๏ธ๐พ
