Say hello to Avery, a 4-year-old Flat-Coated Retriever who’s equal parts charm, energy, and love. With his glossy black coat, soulful eyes, and gentle personality, Avery is the kind of dog who makes every day brighter.

Avery is playful, social, and loves spending time with his people. Whether he’s enjoying a romp in the yard, going for a long walk, learning new things, or relaxing by your side after an adventure, he’s happiest when he’s included in the fun.

While Avery is a big boy, he’s truly a gentle giant at heart. He forms strong bonds with the people he trusts and has so much love to give. He can be a little wary around tall or unfamiliar men at first and appreciates being given the chance to get to know new people at his own pace. Once he feels comfortable, his sweet and affectionate nature shines through.

Avery would do best in a home without children where he can continue building confidence and enjoying a predictable routine. In return, he’ll reward his family with endless loyalty, companionship, and plenty of happy tail wags.

Looking to adopt but want to learn more about a dog before bringing them home? Join us for our Foster to Forever Event and meet some of our amazing dogs who are currently thriving in foster homes!

💛 All Her Puppies Found Homes... Now It's Eve's Turn 💛

When Eve arrived at Border Tails Rescue, she was very pregnant. Just one week later, she welcomed 8 beautiful puppies into the world and immediately proved herself to be an incredible mother.

She raised her babies with love and devotion, and one by one, every single puppy found a family of their own.

Now it's Eve's turn.

This 90-pound sweetheart is a giant cuddle bug who firmly believes she's a lap dog. Her favorite place is right next to her people, soaking up affection and giving plenty in return. She's incredibly loving, friendly with visitors, and highly food motivated—which makes her a great candidate for continued training.

Eve loves toys of all kinds, although stuffed toys tend to have a very short life expectancy in her care. 😅

Like many dogs, Eve isn't perfect. She's dog selective and can be reactive to unfamiliar dogs, so she'd likely do best as the only pet or with a carefully matched canine companion. She's also a strong girl on leash and will need a confident adopter willing to continue helping her build good walking manners.

But what Eve lacks in perfection, she makes up for with loyalty, personality, and an enormous heart.

She's spent months putting her puppies first. They've all gone home. They've all gotten their happy endings.

Now we're asking for someone to give Eve hers. ❤️

This handsome 2-year-old Lab mix found his way to Border Tails Rescue after concerns that he might have megaesophagus. As scary as that diagnosis can be, we're thrilled to report that after further evaluation, Star Lord does NOT have megaesophagus and is ready to find his forever home!

Now that he's gotten the all-clear, it's time for this goofy guy to focus on what he does best: making people smile.

Star Lord is everything you could want in a young dog—funny, playful, affectionate, and full of personality. He's the kind of dog who can turn an ordinary day into an adventure and keep you laughing with his silly antics. Whether he's making new dog friends, exploring the world around him, or soaking up attention from his favorite humans, Star Lord approaches life with enthusiasm and joy.

He's dog-friendly, loves being part of the action, and has the kind of happy-go-lucky attitude that's hard not to fall in love with.

After an unexpected detour on his journey, Star Lord is finally ready for the one thing he's been waiting for all along: a family to call his own.

Not the most exciting items on our wishlist, but they are some of the most important. With hundreds of dogs coming through our doors, we use an unbelievable amount of both every single day. From cleaning kennels and mopping floors to keeping our shelter sanitary and safe, these supplies are constantly running low.

This handsome 1-year-old Cattle Dog is looking for an active family to call his own!

Gatsby is everything people love about working breeds—smart, loyal, athletic, and eager to learn. Since moving into foster care, he's been making incredible progress with training, recall, leash manners, and confidence building. He absolutely loves learning new things and lights up when he gets it right.

He's house-trained, rides great in the car, and is wonderfully communicative. Puzzle toys, frozen treats, tug-of-war, hiking, and outdoor adventures are all right up his alley. While he does well on city walks, Gatsby truly shines when he has nature to explore.

He gets along well with his foster's small dog and would likely enjoy a playful canine companion. After proper introductions, he's happy to make new friends—especially if treats are involved!

But beneath all that Cattle Dog intelligence is a total sweetheart. Gatsby loves being near his people and is happiest when he's curled up at your feet after a day of adventure.

His foster says it best: Gatsby is a truly special dog with endless potential. With a little time, a lot of love, and continued support, he's going to be the most loyal companion you could ask for.

If you've ever dreamed of sharing your home with an Irish Wolfhound, Chuy is ready to make that dream come true.

This handsome giant is a sweet, gentle soul who has won over the hearts of our staff and volunteers. Despite his impressive size, Chuy is a calm and easygoing boy who isn't overly energetic, even in the busy shelter environment. He'd much rather spend his time relaxing near his favorite people than causing any trouble.

Chuy seems to have a preference for women and would likely do best in a home where he can build a strong bond with a female adopter. He's kind, affectionate, and enjoys companionship without being over-the-top demanding.

Like many giant breeds, Chuy has a quiet presence that makes everyone around him feel at ease. He's the perfect combination of gentle, sweet, and loyal.

A huge thank you to Debbie for thinking of the dogs at Border Tails Rescue during such a special celebration!

Instead of asking guests to bring traditional gifts to her dog's recent breed reveal party, Debbie collected donations for our rescue—and wow, did everyone show up! From food and treats to much-needed supplies, these donations will directly help the hundreds of dogs in our care.

We are continually amazed by the creativity and generosity of our supporters. Turning a fun celebration into an opportunity to help homeless dogs is such a thoughtful gesture, and we couldn't be more grateful.

Artemis Strawberry has officially finished her mom duties and is ready to find a forever home of her own! Even better, three of her adorable jam babies are still looking for families too: Lingonberry, Raspberry, and Mint Jam.

Artemis has been an incredible mom from day one. She's dog-friendly, sweet, and has loved meeting people during events and outings. She has handled every new experience with grace and has proven herself to be a wonderful companion.

Her puppies have been well-socialized and have spent time meeting all kinds of people at events. Lingonberry, Raspberry, and Mint Jam are growing into confident, happy puppies who are ready to take on the world with their future families. They are playful, affectionate, and eager to continue learning and exploring.
