🥹 We don't think Doug got to be much of a dog before coming to us. Now, he's making up for lost time. ❤️‍🩹

Doug the Doberman truly could not be sweeter. His greatest joys in life include peanut butter, running full-speed sprints, and cuddling as physically close to his people as possible. 😂❤️

He's still learning that the world isn't so scary. Doug can be timid meeting new people, and busy areas on leash can make him nervous—but every single day, he's getting braver and showing us more of who he really is.

And recently, Doug discovered TOYS. 🥹 Apparently no one told him about these before, because now he cannot get enough.

He's incredibly food motivated, learned “sit” in just TWO days, and has been wonderful with every dog he's met—big and small. He's also a fantastic houseguest and does great when left home alone. But when you come back? Expect excited sneezes and the happiest wagging tail waiting at the door. 🥹

Doug doesn't need anything complicated. He just needs someone willing to keep showing him how good life can be.

Want to hike? Doug's in.
Want to spend the entire day on the couch? Also in.
Have peanut butter? Say less.

He's loyal, gentle, loving, and SO easy to fall in love with.

🍼🐶 WE NEED PUPPY FORMULA! 🐶🍼

Apparently the babies did not get the memo that formula is expensive. 😂 And with little ones in our care, we are going through puppy formula FAST.

We are in urgent need of more to keep tiny bellies full, babies growing, and our medical/foster teams stocked for the puppies who depend on us. ❤️‍🩹

If you’re able to send us even one container of formula, it makes a huge difference. These are one of those supplies that disappear almost as quickly as they arrive!

Meet Biggie. 🩶

Biggie was adopted from Border Tails a little over a year ago, and he's back with us looking for a fresh start.

This handsome Standard Poodle is the definition of a velcro dog. If you give him a few ear scratches and a little love, he'll be your shadow for life. His favorite place is right next to his person, soaking up cuddles and reminding you just how special the bond between a dog and their human can be.
Biggie is incredibly loyal and devoted to the people he trusts. He thrives on routine, stability, and being with his family. Because of that, change and unfamiliar people can be difficult for him. He struggles with anxiety around strangers and has a history of biting, so he'll need an experienced, patient adopter who understands that trust is earned—not expected overnight.

Once you're in Biggie's circle, you're in for life. His previous family described him as one of the best dogs they've ever had, saying he's endlessly loving, protective, and happiest when he's curled up next to his favorite person.

Biggie is looking for a calm, predictable home where he won't have to meet new people constantly or deal with frequent disruptions. We know his perfect person is out there—someone who will appreciate just how deeply this boy loves.

🥰 APPOINTMENT SCHEDULED WITH QUITE A FEW BACKUPS! 🥰

🐱 After years of service, our office cat Whisky is officially ready for retirement. ❤️

Whisky came to Border Tails in 2022 at just 8 months old, and for the last several years, she has ruled our office, supervised meetings, judged our productivity, and made it very clear that this is her building. 😂

Now about 4½ years old, Whisky is starting to show us more signs that the busy shelter environment is becoming stressful for her. As much as we will miss her, we love her enough to recognize that she deserves something we can't give her here: a quiet, comfortable HOME. 🏡

Whisky is believed to be a purebred Maine C**n and is spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, and ready for retirement. She's an independent girl—not currently a huge lap cat—but we're really hopeful that getting out of the constant noise and activity of a shelter will allow her to relax, become more comfortable, and show us a softer side.

She's cat-friendly here, although at this point in her life, she may be happiest as someone's one-and-only cat. She's also okay with respectful dogs who aren't in her face.

Keeping Whisky here simply because we love having her isn't necessarily what's best for her. Our office girl deserves to finally be somebody's house cat. 🥹❤️ Adoption fee will apply.

❤️‍🩹 We’re looking for a very special foster or adopter for this girl.

She may look like a normal happy puppy, but underneath that sweet face is a very serious heart condition.

She was evaluated by Purdue University Cardiology and diagnosed with severe subaortic stenosis, a condition that causes an obstruction to blood leaving the heart. Because she is still young, there is concern that the severity of her disease could continue to progress as she grows.

At her Purdue appointment, she had a Grade 4/6 heart murmur. Just one month later, that murmur was documented as a Grade 5 and could actually be felt through her chest. ❤️‍🩹

She is currently on heart medication twice daily and will need continued cardiac monitoring, including another evaluation around one year of age.

But right now, what she really needs is something medicine can’t give her: a foster home.
We’re looking for someone comfortable fostering a medical dog who can give her a calm, loving place to land, reliably give her medications, keep a close eye on her, and communicate with our medical team if anything changes.

Border Tails covers her medical care and provides everything she needs. You provide the safe place and the love.

She has a serious diagnosis, but she is still a puppy who deserves to experience life outside of a shelter. She deserves a couch, a family to love on her, and someone willing to give a special dog a chance. ❤️

This bonded duo is absolutely irresistible.

Gingy Jazz is a 1-year-old Cocker Spaniel, and her partner in crime, Lucky Logan, is a 1.5-year-old Lab. Do they look like they should go together? Maybe not. Do they make perfect sense together? Absolutely.

There is just something about an oddly matched dog friendship that gets us every time, and these two are no exception. Different sizes, different looks, same adorable energy. 🥹

Looking for some Saturday morning motivation? Come run with our shelter dogs! ❤️
Every Saturday at 9 AM, registered runners can hit the pavement with one of our adoptable pups. It’s a great workout for you and an even better opportunity for our dogs to get out of the shelter, burn some energy, explore, and enjoy some much-needed one-on-one time!

🏃 All running levels are welcome! Whether you’re training for your next race or just looking for a fun way to get moving, our dogs are ready to be your running buddies.

Meet Angie 🥹❤️

14 years old. 12.2 pounds. Chipped. Found as a stray. And no one came for her.
Angie ended up at CACC as a stray, and despite having a microchip, no one came forward to bring this tiny senior girl home.

So now, she’s with us. ❤️‍🩹

And it took approximately five minutes for Angie to become a staff favorite.
She is the sweetest little old lady—gentle, loving, precious, and perfectly content soaking up every bit of attention she can get. At just 12.2 pounds, she’s basically the ideal portable grandma.

We don’t know how a 14-year-old dog ends up wandering the streets or why no one came looking for her. We just know that Angie deserved better than that—and we’d really like the rest of her story to be ridiculously good.

She may be 14, but she still has so much love left to give. Now she just needs someone who thinks the golden years are worth showing up for. ❤️
