Any empty nesters out there looking for a little companion to bring more joy, laughter, and love into your home?

Meet my newest rescues, Tulsa and Babbles. These adorable 10-week-old puppies are believed to be Miniature Sheltie/Chihuahua mixes, and they are already showing two very different personalities.

Babbles is a black-and-white male weighing about 3 pounds. His name fits him perfectly—he is a little communicator who likes to let you know what he is thinking.
Tulsa is a 4-pound female with an independent streak. She likes to explore, figure things out, and do things her own way.

Both puppies have received their first round of vaccines and their second deworming treatment. They are expected to remain small when fully grown.

Tulsa and Babbles both enjoy spending time outside, so their ideal homes would have a securely fenced yard or families who can provide plenty of safe outdoor activity, walks, and playtime.

These babies have already had a change in their young lives, so I am looking for loving, committed homes where they can grow up feeling safe, included, and adored.

If you have room in your home and heart for one of these little personalities, please reach out.

And please share this post, even if you are not looking for a puppy yourself. The right home may be just one share away. Help me give Tulsa and Babbles the loving families they deserve.

Dogs don’t weigh good vs. bad. They react to what they feel.

They aren’t stopping to ask, “Was that the right choice?” They’re responding to what the moment means to them—safe or uncertain, familiar or confusing, manageable or overwhelming.

That matters because behavior we label as “bad” may be a dog communicating discomfort, uncertainty, fear, excitement, or simply a lack of understanding.

Instead of asking, “Why is my dog doing this to me?” try asking, “What is my dog responding to?”

That question changes how you see the behavior—and how you respond to it.

When we understand what is driving the reaction, we can stop taking behavior personally and start giving the dog clearer direction.

Understand the behavior. Then lead the dog through it.

**Dog Myth Monday — Myth #6: “Spoiling Your Dog Shows Love”**

We love our dogs, and naturally, we want them to be happy. But giving a dog everything they want isn’t the same as giving them what they need.

Dogs need affection, but they also need guidance, structure, and clear boundaries. Without them, a dog can become confused, anxious, and unsure of what is expected.

**Love your dog. Absolutely. But lead them, too.**

Because leadership isn’t the opposite of love—it’s part of it.

DOG MYTH MONDAY
Myth 5: “My Dog Knows He Did Something Wrong”
Truth:
That “guilty look” is actually appeasement behavior in response to human tension.
Dogs read our body language and react to it.
Core Lesson:
Dogs respond to energy, not moral judgment.

Dog Myth #4: “A Tired Dog Is a Good Dog”

If your dog only behaves after being worn out, that’s not training—that’s exhaustion.

And exhaustion doesn’t last.

The moment the energy comes back… so does the behavior.

Training isn’t about draining your dog.
It’s about giving them clarity.

Mental structure always outlasts physical exhaustion.

Dog Myth Monday — Myth #3: “My Dog Is Just Stubborn”

We’ve all heard it—or said it ourselves.
The dog doesn’t respond, ignores a command, or chooses something else… and the label comes out: stubborn.

But here’s the truth most people miss—
Dogs aren’t being difficult. They’re being clear.

When behavior doesn’t match expectations, it’s not attitude… it’s information.

Most people label behavior before they understand it.
“Dominant” is one of the most overused—and misunderstood—labels in dog training.

Before you decide what your dog is, ask what your dog has actually learned.

Because most behavior isn’t about control—
it’s about what the dog has been allowed, reinforced, or left to figure out alone.

Clarity creates behavior. Confusion creates problems.
