Do I have to mop every time she eats?

✅ Yes.

Do I have to change pants almost every time?

✅ Yes.

Do I end up wearing more formula than she does some days?

✅ Also yes.

Do I still think it's the cutest thing ever?
❤️ 110% absolutely.

Could I sit and watch her eat all day?
🥹 Without a doubt.

The messes, the laundry, the mopping... somehow it's all worth it when you're raising a little wild soul. ❤️🦦

Question of the day: What animal could you watch all day without getting bored? 👇💕

🦨❤️ Only fitting that we have skunk intakes on National Skunk Day! ❤️🦨

One thing about wildlife rehabilitation is that no rehabber does it alone. We all learn through research, experience, and the incredible mentors who are willing to share their knowledge.

We are beyond blessed to have Julie, founder of Indiana Skunk Rescue, as one of those mentors. From the very beginning, she has been there to answer questions, offer guidance, and help us learn everything we can about caring for skunks.

No matter what comes our way, if we have a question, Julie is always there to help. Her dedication to skunks and to helping fellow rehabbers is truly amazing.

We appreciate her more than we can ever express and are so thankful for everything she has taught us.

If you haven't already, go give Indiana Skunk Rescue a follow and show them some skunk love! 🦨❤️

Drop a ❤️🦨 in the comments to help us show Julie just how much we appreciate everything she does for wildlife and fellow rehabbers!

🦌 Interesting call today! 🦌

We received a call about a fawn that was stuck in a fence, but mom was still nearby.

If you've never been in that situation before, it can actually be pretty dangerous. Mother deer are incredibly protective of their babies, and this mom was making it very clear that she wasn't happy about anyone approaching her fawn!

Luckily, I was only about 2 minutes away when the call came in and responded immediately. I attempted to help at first, but mom was charging and not allowing access—which is completely understandable. She was doing exactly what a good mother should do.

Once my sub-permittee arrived, we carefully approached as a team and were able to safely free the fawn from the fence.

After a quick exam, we found no broken bones or serious injuries. The fence had rubbed some fur off but nothing bleeding or open wounds just bruising. Which is very lucky!

The best part? We were able to release the fawn right back to mom, and they ran off together happy and healthy. ❤️

Not every wildlife call ends with an animal coming into rehab. Sometimes the best outcome is helping wildlife stay wild and keeping families together.

🦌❤️

🦦 Bindi Update 🦦

Some of you may not know, but Bindi had a seizure Thursday evening.

She had been doing great and was playing normally when, completely out of nowhere, she began seizing. My heart sank. I ran to her side and stayed with her, making sure she didn't hurt herself while trying to help her come out of it.

The seizure lasted just under a minute, but it felt like a lifetime.

We immediately contacted our veterinarian, who felt it could possibly be related to head trauma from before intake. Looking back, we wondered if that could also explain the tight circling behavior we had been seeing.

After speaking with Samantha Opp, founder of Enchanted Forest Wildlife Rescue of Indiana, Inc , we decided to start Bindi on a precautionary treatment plan. Sam has been an incredible resource, and we are so thankful for her willingness to share her knowledge and experience.

The good news? Bindi is doing well. ❤️

She is now eating better than she ever has and is beginning to accept a slurry instead of only formula. Seeing her appetite improve has been such a relief.

Wildlife rehabilitation is never a journey we take alone, and we are incredibly grateful for the mentors, veterinarians, and fellow rehabilitators who help us along the way.

Please help us show some love and appreciation to Sam and Enchanted Forest Wildlife Rescue of Indiana for always being willing to answer any questions we have. ❤️

And of course, please keep sweet Bindi in your thoughts as she continues her recovery. 🦦

🦇 BAT UPDATE TIME! 🦇

We've had quite a few questions about our recent bat intakes, so here's a little update!

First, the bat pup and the adult bat that recently came into care were two completely separate intakes and are not related. ❤️

The good news? Both are doing well!

The tiny bat pup is growing stronger every day, and the adult bat continues to do good and will be released soon. We are so thankful these little wildlife patients got a second chance.

🦇 BAT FACT CHALLENGE 🦇

How many insects do you think a single bat can eat in one night?

A️ - 50
B️ - 200
C️ - 500
D️ - 1,000+

We'll share some answers later!

Good morning from Lakota Haven. ☕🍼

Before the animals wake up, formula mixed, supplies restocked, and medications prepared.

Most people see the cute baby photos. This is the part that happens before the camera comes out.

Busy season is in full swing around here.

Photo of the fawns bottles and bindis mix minus the fish. And this is just the beginning. The you have all the solid food and then the opossum mixtures and the raccoons. It's never ending around here lol.

We are seriously so blessed to have each of you. Sometimes it makes me want to tear up.

Right now we are going a little animal crazy. Between caring for all the around the clock babies. To taking care of outdoor enclosures. Feeding/meal prepping. Cleaning.

Then we still have to make it to the grocery store to get items that are needed and we run out of regularly so we have to go back.

Today we received this amazing amount of produce. Of course it will not last long but think about the money saved on this amount of produce that can go towards protein or bedding or even medical supplies.

Everything amounts to something. Even the interacting to our post because we get a very small portion on here from Facebook if people interact with us!

If you have produce you are about to throw away or do not need anymore please consider donating it! The rehabs could really use it right now. I know we can use as much as we can get!

Without your support we would not be able to do this!

🐾 Does anybody remember Rover? 🐾

Rover was the tiny raccoon from Bloomington that came to us after being left out in the rain. The finder wasn't comfortable moving the babies, so by the time we arrived, both were soaking wet, freezing cold, and already battling pneumonia.

We immediately got them warmed, dried, and started treatment. Despite everything we tried, Rover's sibling sadly passed away within 48 hours.

But Rover had other plans.

This little fighter refused to give up. He took his fluids like a champ, latched onto his bottle with determination, overcame every obstacle thrown his way, and kept pushing forward day after day.
Now look at him. ❤️

Just a couple of weeks ago, Rover opened his eyes for the very first time. The tiny, cold, fragile baby we weren't sure would make it is now growing stronger every day.

Stories like Rover's remind us why we do this. Not every battle is won, but sometimes these little fighters show us just how strong they can be.

Help us celebrate Rover's progress by dropping a ❤️ in the comments!

If you'd like to help us continue saying "yes" to babies like Rover, please check out our donation links in our Linktree. Every donation helps provide formula, medications, and supplies for wildlife in need. 🦝💕
